Description

This is an intern position for students to learn fundamental of Propulsion Systems and GM processes while working and assisting an engineer or program team to achieve team goals. Work will be of a technical nature; supervision is available to guide and provide direction for successful outcome of all projects and tasks. Our team has opportunities in many areas of the business including Transmissions, Gas Engines, Diesel Engines, Electrification, Battery and Fuel Cells.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist engineer in programs and projects
  • Work on Microsoft Suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Possible work on CAD based software or other GM systems
  • Work on team projects while completing individual tasks to successfully achieve team results
  • Regular contact with others outside the work group
  • Collect data and provide initial analysis and feedback as requested by supervisor
  • This role offers the following Work Appropriately strategies:

  • Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full- time basis.

    Qualifications

  • Interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) as well as Mechanical Engr, Electrical Engr, Computer Science, Coding, Controls Engr, Physics, Chemistry, Mechatronics, other
  • Must be currently enrolled as a junior in the Pontiac School District: Pontiac High School or International Technology Academy
  • Ability to be at work Monday to Friday for 8.5 hrs. between 6am to 5pm, includes 30-minute lunch
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, self-motivated, and strong work ethic
  • Highly motivated students with some project-based learning
  • Must be currently enrolled as a junior in the Pontiac School District: Pontiac High School or International Technology Academy
  • 3.0 minimum GPA (cumulative)
  • School Attendance at 90% or better
  • Additional Information

    Student must provide a work permit and participate in an interview and assessment.

    Internship will be in the summer months starting Monday after school ends. The first week of July will be an unpaid leave for the campus shutdown. End will be one week before school starts.

    GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to each student selected for the 2023 Student Program
