Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite an average of three (3) days each week in SE Michigan.
The Role:
The Engineering Intern will possess a basic technical knowledge in materials combined with creative and strategic thinking. The candidate should have a passion for materials, technology, and a desire to continuously learn new things! This position allows some work flexibility and is part of the Work Appropriately Model.
Responsibilities:
Lead materials and fastening engineering projects.
Assist in the development of new materials and creation of future strategies.
Interact regularly with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, suppliers, purchasing, and other materials engineers to achieve targets.
Investigate new materials technology and new supplier processes.
Required Qualifications:
Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy, or other related Engineering Degree
Must be graduating between August 2024 to May 2026

Student Stipend: GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2024 Student Program.
Pay Transparency: The salary range for this role is $4,700 - $4,900, dependent upon class status and degree.
