Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite an average of three (3) days each week in SE Michigan.

The Role:

The Engineering Intern will possess a basic technical knowledge in materials combined with creative and strategic thinking. The candidate should have a passion for materials, technology, and a desire to continuously learn new things! This position allows some work flexibility and is part of the Work Appropriately Model.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead materials and fastening engineering projects.

  • Assist in the development of new materials and creation of future strategies.

  • Interact regularly with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, suppliers, purchasing, and other materials engineers to achieve targets.

  • Investigate new materials technology and new supplier processes.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy, or other related Engineering Degree

  • Must be graduating between August 2024 to May 2026

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

  • Familiarity with design and development processes

  • Student Stipend: GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2024 Student Program.

    Pay Transparency: The salary range for this role is $4,700 - $4,900, dependent upon class status and degree.
