Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
Create & Provide to the Advanced Design teams initial vehicle layout
proposals with coarse input from Advanced Planning, Design, and AVD
Leadership. Including consideration of the competitive landscape as well
as cost imperative considerations
Create and / or lead engineering, packaging, “what if” studies for next
generation program and architecture development for the advanced studio
Delegate tasks and studies to Integration Design Engineers, Performance
Engineers, and SMT Engineers as appropriate
Create and integrate initial architectural criteria section development,
bodyside development, and architectural vehicle layouts into Advanced size
and proportion and vision models as well as seating properties
Support technical development of design surface in both digital and full
size/scale clay models as well as clinic properties and VR/MR mockups
Integrate regional/global requirements and develop alternatives to satisfy
regional/brand needs
Participate in Engineering/Program Meetings, representing Design,
Architecture, and Surface Integration, and lead the collaboration of other
stakeholders as required to resolve issues
Resolve packaging issues such as interferences, space violations, and
performance violations by creating alternative solutions while considering
and protecting architectural bandwidths
Lead issue resolution and escalation pre-PFI
Interface with the Advanced Vehicle Configuration and Feasibility teams as
necessary
Mentor and train new IDEs
Represent brand-specific requirements and provide input in new
architecture development
Manage IFP process and innovation deliverables
Support early GVDP deliverables
Work with Studio Technical Lead to ensure Design strategies are understood
and driven into the upfront proposals
Present engineering studies to senior level leadership
Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
10 years of combined architecture, vehicle, and surface integration,
including:
5 years of Industry experience in Vehicle Integration
5 years of Industry experience working in a Design Studio environment
Extensive CAD (NX) capability
Demonstrated ability to prepare materials, presentations, and influence
varying levels of cross-functional leadership appropriately
Ability to work under a tight, demanding schedule
High level of initiative and ability to work independently with little
direction/supervision
Effective at influencing peers and indirect team members without direct
control
DFSS Black Belt
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of Pre-PFI deliverables within the GVDP including IFP's
Extensive knowledge of the global and local competitive vehicle landscape
Demonstrated ability to make vehicle level optimization decisions
Recognized expertise in design and engineering requirement balancing
including 6 pillar requirements
Experience in the creation & comparisons of Pro-Dim's & General
Arrangement drawings
Participation in extracurricular activities such as Formula SAE, or other
relevant engineering organizations
