Description

Develop, validate and implement common serviceability specifications, service part release/information and simultaneous production across multiple vehicle platforms. Represent Aftersales Engineering within the Global Vehicle Development Process and with Product Engineering at the assigned Body Subsystem Core PDT(s). Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Join the Global Aftersales Engineering in an opportunity to become Service Integration and Release Engineer (SIE/SRE). It is a dynamic environment – Focusing on service General Motor's vehicles. Thinking about the customer, you will work with a team that is executing strategies that provide service deliverables over the life of the vehicle.

The responsibilities are to ensure serviceability of design for their assigned program(s), developing, validating and implementing common serviceability specifications. This is accomplished by representing service through the local and global engineering technical reviews/program meetings to be the “Voice of Service” and communicate serviceability requirements and best practice guidelines, beginning in early development, throughout program launch and ultimately through the end of the product's life.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Represent advanced serviceability of design during the program development
  • Identify, address and/or escalate serviceability issues as appropriate utilizing business case analysis tools and math data / virtual analysis
  • Support development and validation of service special tools and customer literatures
  • Develop and validate preliminary service procedures
  • Provide technical support for various other teams as Program Management, Service Training, Warranty, Technical Assistance, Assembly Plants, Field support and others
  • Analyze engineering updates
  • Develop salvage processes for cost reduction
  • Generate technical solutions for current, new and major programs
  • Release parts and subsystems for service on Aftersales systems, ensuring the service parts needed to repair GM vehicles are available to our dealers and customers globally
  • Analyze and resolve engineering deviations, suggestions, and internal/external customer inquiries relative to service parts
  • Create/sign off on Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Authorizations (ECAs).
  • Maintain communications, build relationships, and represent Aftersales Engineering with all Customer Care and Aftersales downstream functions and internal customers.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated solid knowledge and experience of vehicle systems, technical and professional skills in job-related areas
  • Understanding of GM's Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP).
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Fluency of oral, listening and written English communication skills. Spanish is desirable.
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others globally
  • Project Management skills (team work, organizational, priority setting, problem solving, negotiating, conflict management, innovation)
  • Data management skills
  • Knowledge of GM's Engineering related computer software and tools (GPDS, APM, TcAE, Vis Mockup, ECR, APM)
  • Availability to presential work at GM facilities 3 days per week or more (when required)
