Description

GM Design's Appearance Quality team is seeking a Definition Lead to coordinate and document all color and material appearance attributes for various programs. We are seeking a highly organized candidate who can communicate and collaborate easily with cross functional, global partners. In this role, you will own all of the color and material information for the life of several programs.

This position requires an employee to be onsite 3 times per week.

Job Description:
  • Create, manage, and maintain the CTDAR document (Color & Trim Design Appearance Requirements) for specified programs
  • Coordinate milestone releases of CTDAR on time to meet GVDP elements
  • Coordinate additional updates and release of document to support ongoing program changes (change management process)
  • Work proactively to obtain and coordinate all color and materials appearance information specific to assigned programs
  • Coordinate information with global partners on shared programs
  • Ensure appearance direction maintains design intent, brand strategies and color & materials strategies
  • Identify disconnects, support escalation and ensure timely resolution of issues pertaining to appearance information
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of CTDAR document is maintained (gold source document)
  • Support program benchmarking process and develop comparison charts
  • Provide appearance requirements for eSOR
  • Lead appearance definition meetings to support coarse to fine development of the CTDAR
  • Lead milestone assessments for appearance gate reviews, including the virtual assessment
  • Coordinate gate review to request master ID's
  • Support development of the overall CTDAR strategy and CCC documents
  • Support CMF and Appearance Quality processes and actively participate in process improvements (OPEX projects)
  • Support appearance requirements during AAR and vehicle harmony review with Appearance Quality Launch
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships within the Design organization, including Interior & Exterior Studios, CMF and Appearance Quality
  • Develop strong cross functional relationships outside of Design with Program Teams, Engineering, Program Management, Materials Engineering and Marketing
  • Manage appearance definition maintenance for the life of assigned programs
  • Additional Description Requirements:
  • Experienced in the areas of color / grain / gloss and overall appearance attributes
  • Understanding of a vast range of color & materials
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes and how they affect appearance
  • Excellent project and program management skills
  • Ability to create and deliver effective presentations to management and large groups
  • Ability to run effective meetings and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Adept in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
  • Some experience with Photoshop would be preferred
  • Understanding of GVDP (Global Vehicle Development Process) preferred
  • Knowledge of Purchasing process (eSOR), CR/DN system, PPC would be beneficial
  • Bachelor's degree with qualifications in Engineering, Design, Business or Communications (exceptions may be granted based on work experience)
  • Automotive industry / product experience working within design or engineering on vehicle interiors and exteriors
