GM Design's Appearance Quality group is seeking an Appearance Quality TALC Lead to handle the evaluation of appearance and aesthetic design intent across multiple vehicle and mobility programs to ensure compliance to GM standards for color, illumination and overall quality appearance of production parts and the product as a whole. This role will work closely with internal customers and external suppliers to achieve overall interior lit vehicle harmony.

This is an integral role within Design that needs someone with the right technical background and managerial courage in order to ensure the vehicles that go to production are up to the quality expected. This position requires an employee to be onsite 3 times per week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the evaluation of interior illuminated parts for assigned programs
  • Evaluate Interior parts for compliance to GM Color and Illumination Standards and overall quality
  • Assess illuminated components for appearance attributes through bench and vehicle reviews
  • Review and coordinate dimming curve performance of all interior dimming components
  • Complete assessment of measured data for color and luminance enabling data driven decisions
  • Conduct Interior & Executive TALC Reviews (Touch, Appearance, Lighting, Color)
  • Document Program status of TALC approvals and track all outstanding issues through to resolution
  • Collaborate and consult with Suppliers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Design, Supplier Quality and Program Team to resolve issues and meet required deliverables
  • Travel as required to complete reviews – Mainly to Warren and Milford Proving Grounds
  • Communicate information to internal and external customers
  • Actively participate in process improvement projects, identifying inefficiencies, and driving change
  • Support Global implementation of TALC Process
  • Additional Description Qualifications
  • Must pass Color Discrimination Test (Munsell-Farnsworth) with a score of < 16
  • Experienced in the areas of Interior Lighting & overall vehicle lit harmony for conformance to illumination requirements is preferred
  • Knowledge of product engineering, manufacturing processes and new vehicle launch process
  • Demonstrate analytical ability and problem-solving capability
  • Computer software skills – especially with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated, Pro-Active, Decision Maker with ability to simultaneously manage multiple programs
  • Ability to create and deliver effective presentations to Management, with Managerial Courage.
  • Collaborates effectively and works well with cross-functional teams
  • Goal driven, understands importance of meeting deliverables
  • Ability to build and maintain key relationships inside and outside the organization
  • Education/and or Training

    Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent
