The Assembly Verification Group (AVG) team is within the Manufacturing Engineering – General Assembly Electrical Department. The department is responsible for processing and testing the electrical systems of vehicles within our assembly plants. The AVG team is responsible for test development and test integration. All tests are performed using serial data communication to all the vehicles' electronic control units. The Assembly Verification Lead Engineer (AVLE) acts as the single point of contact for the Assembly Verification Group during the development cycle of a vehicle program. The AVLE works closely with product engineering, and the AVG team. Due to the wide scope of work, this position will have high visibility across General Motors through product design groups, program launch teams, and assembly manufacturing. The team is a dynamic group, and this position will be challenging. The AVLE is the key manufacturing engineering person responsible for delivering the manufacturing requirements that the AVG software developers will use to deliver the final test and flash software.
Job Responsibilities:
Collaborating with product engineering to develop and finalize the Programming and End of Line Test Requirements (PETRs)
Leading execution of major programs up to plant builds.
Assuring high quality system verification on all Assembly Verification Group (AVG) applications and system changes before deployment at the assembly plants.
Providing support for issue resolution process to identify, track, and resolve issues affecting End of Line (EOL) during preproduction builds.
Lead GVDP EOLT events with Product Engineering
Driving continuous Improvements in the organization.
Removing roadblocks, the Assembly Verification Lead Engineers work with product engineering, manufacturing, IT or AVG software development team.
Minimum Requirements:
5+ years of engineering experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with preferred focus in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
Overall vehicle electrical system experience
Vehicle electrical sub-systems experience (engine controls, ABS, air bag, body controllers)
Automotive assembly plant operations.
GM quality systems
GM vehicle development process
Familiarity with VIP architecture (i.e., ISO 14229, Cybersecurity, Ethernet)
Manufacturing Engineering experience
Electrical engineering experience
Some minimal travel may be required
