Our diverse team of manufacturing engineers play a crucial role in transforming our facilities through implementing the adoption of ground-breaking technologies. From raw sheet metal to final assembly, this team is reinventing the tools and processes that will enable GM to deliver on our promise to create an all-electric future.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Manufacturing Integration Manager (MIM) or Manufacturing Chief Engineer (MCE) in the development and execution of New/Major programs, and/or own the execution of specific projects or annual program launches.
  • Be the strong voice of manufacturing in the product program forums (PET, VAPIR, CAB, MIT, Launch structures).
  • Drive the consistent application of the Global Launch Process (GLP) to deliver successful launches.
  • Drive Manufacturing/ME to minimize spending within the approved project investment.
  • Work with the assembly plant to develop and implement the plant preproduction budgets.
  • Work closely with Engineering/GPSC/ME/Assembly Plants to ensure the issue resolution process is working optimally.
  • Build strong program/launch team structures which enable successful product launches.
  • Give Manufacturing input into business case studies to support the best total enterprise cost decisions.
  • Initiate Manufacturing Planning Studies (MPS) and consolidate/validate responses from the centers. Liaison to the program team for MFG investment.
  • Represent Assembly Plants at product engineering mock-ups.
  • MFG voice for CR's (Change Requests), Decision Notices (DN's), and critical Engineering Work Orders.
  • Represent MFG at Wall reviews (PPO, Plant, other)
  • Develop launch reports as required corresponding to the GVDP stage including major program gates (PFI, DSI, VPI, CSO, LSORP, SORP, STC, LTR)
  • Drive launch excellence deliverables associated with (SPQRCE)
  • Represent MFG at Program Timing workshops.
  • Develop multi-functional lessons learned upon program completion. Coordinate completion of LTR (Launch Team release activities)
  • Additional Description Basic Required:
  • Knowledge of General Motors or automotive manufacturing systems.
  • Comfortable knowledge of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP)
  • Candidates should be willed to take action, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong teams and work cross-functionally / collaboratively.

  • Travel:
  • Some travel required based on program / position. Travel can be domestic or international.
