Description

The primary responsibility of the Process Engineer – Battery Module Assembly is to 'get the process right' and do so by delivering process and equipment that enable a flawless launch. This role will develop manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and flow of operations for lithium-ion batteries. Work is performed in a team environment where you will have daily interactions with suppliers, OEMs, product engineering, plant engineering, other manufacturing engineers and a multitude of others to optimally launch new products.

This is a hybrid role working from Warren Tech Center, state-of-the-art battery RESS Development Center, battery assembly plants (Brownstown, Factory Zero) OEMs and with some opportunity to work from home. Responsible for supporting activities that include:

  • Project management of Advanced Propulsion Assembly Equipment
  • Work with equipment suppliers on design, build, validation and start-up of Battery Module Equipment and Automation
  • Responsible for preparing AR's and SOR's
  • Work with purchasing to ensure quotes from OEM's are accurate and meet SOR requirements
  • Ensure supplier's and OEM's deliver equipment that meets all GM specifications
  • Facilitate ME deliverables including implementation of equipment specifications and MARO
  • Support prototype builds through development of the processes, tooling, and equipment all while working with product engineering to refine designs for manufacturing
  • Develop the production manufacturing process for new products
  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts
  • Support implementation of GM safety specifications and equipment safety reviews
  • Support construction teams with specifications on building and facility requirements from OEMs
  • Support start-up and ramp up of manufacturing plants
  • Additional Description Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of Manufacturing Experience
  • Available for 25% Travel (required during OEM build/MARO & plant install/debug/MARO)
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Manufacturing Engineering assignments with successful individual and/or team-based achievements
  • Confirmed high level understanding of Manufacturing Engineering
