We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that
take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We are bringing urban air mobility to
life by introducing our air taxis and drones as an electric addition to
current transportation options in megacities worldwide. Our aim is to offer
affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them
safely to their destination. In 2011, we performed the first-ever crewed
flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous
public flights with our full-scale Volocopters (www. volocopter.com).
Our custom-built Electric Propulsion System consisting of state-of-the-art
battery, power distribution and controlled electric motors are key to making
Volocopter's products extremely safe to fly. With your specific experience in
the development of electrical system for aviation or in integrating electric
propulsion components into mobility products, you contribute directly to the
certification of this uniquely safe and simple flight experience. As an
integral part of our Energy Storage Unit (ESU) component development team,
you ensure that the proper system development processes are followed by the
battery and power distribution teams.
Your mission during this flight:
Lead the certification process for battery systems used in SC-VTOL and
E-19 aircraft, ensuring compliance with EASA regulations and standards.
Develop and maintain the certification strategy and plans, ensuring
alignment with project objectives and timelines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including battery design
engineers, system integration engineers, and regulatory experts, to ensure
adherence to certification requirements throughout the product development
lifecycle.
Conduct thorough technical reviews of battery system designs, analyzing
safety, reliability, and performance aspects to identify potential risks
and propose mitigation strategies.
Prepare and submit certification documentation, including certification
plans, test protocols, test reports, and compliance statements.
Liaise with EASA and other relevant certification authorities to ensure a
smooth and efficient certification process, addressing any queries or
concerns raised during the evaluation process.
Stay updated with the latest regulatory developments, industry standards,
and best practices related to battery systems certification, and apply
that knowledge to improve our certification processes and practices (E.g.
EUROCAE).
Provide technical review of the design to ensure the complete coverage of
the requirements.
Support the validation and verification activities of component
requirements according to ARP-4754A
Support system level / component level milestones (e.g., PDR / CDR /
TRR)
