We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that
take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We are bringing urban air mobility to
life by introducing our air taxis and drones as an electric addition to
current transportation options in megacities worldwide. Our aim is to offer
affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them
safely to their destination. In 2011, we performed the first-ever crewed
flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous
public flights with our full-scale Volocopters (www. volocopter.com).
Our custom-built Electric Propulsion System consisting of state-of-the-art
battery, power distribution and controlled electric motors are key to making
Volocopter's products extremely safe to fly. With your specific experience in
the development of electrical system for aviation or in integrating electric
propulsion components into mobility products, you contribute directly to the
certification of this uniquely safe and simple flight experience. As an
integral part of our Energy Storage Unit Team (ESU) component development
team, you ensure that the proper system development processes are followed by
the battery and power distribution teams.
Your mission during this flight:
Battery System Design: Lead the Electrical design and development of
battery systems for SC-VTOL and E-19 applications, considering the unique
requirements and challenges associated with electric aircraft
Compliance with EASA Standards: Ensure that battery systems meet the
certification requirements outlined by EASA, including SC-VTOL and E-19
guidelines, for both functional and safety aspects.
Battery Architecture: Propose electrical architectures of battery systems,
considering factors such as cell selection, battery management systems,
thermal management, and fault detection and mitigation strategies.
Testing and Validation: Plan comprehensive testing programs together with
the Validation and Verification Engineers to validate battery performance,
safety, and reliability. Coordinate with internal and external teams to
ensure compliance with EASA certification requirements.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and hazards
associated with battery systems and develop appropriate mitigation
strategies to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed
technical documentation, including specifications, test reports,
compliance matrices, and certification-related documentation.
Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate closely with cross-functional
teams, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, to ensure
seamless integration of battery systems into the overall aircraft
architecture. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior
