About the team:
BrightDrop User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Digital Designers, Researchers, Content Strategists, HCI and Human factor Experts, Creative Designers and Industrial Designers. Our goal is to design and build the most relevant and delightful products we possibly can.
The UX Research team plays an integral part in gathering insights about the needs, attitudes, emotions, and behaviors of people who will use our products to inspire and inform design. As a Lead User Experience Researcher you will define the research roadmap focused on our digital experiences, including in- vehicle systems and enterprise web, and mobile mobile applications across our suite of products and services. You will work cross-functionally with your team of UX folks as well as product managers, sales, and engineers to understand user needs and their impact on products. You'll work with stakeholders across functions and levels and have impact at all stages of product development. You'll play a critical role in creating useful, usable, and delightful products. You'll explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, and usability testing.
Ultimately, the team's mission is to create a competitive advantage for BrightDrop by shaping the company's future with research and insights and translating them directly into product and experience impact. This role will be pivotal in shaping the product and UX strategy for the company as one of the first hires into the UX Research team.
What You Will Do:
Identify, prioritize, and lead research efforts that generate insights to inform product, design and user experience decisions at BrightDrop.
Create and conduct research efforts ranging from exploration and inspiration to validation and testing got both hardware and software products and experiences.
Partner with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Design, Engineering and Sales, and Communications, to proactively develop research initiatives.
There will be a particular emphasis in:
Define, design, execute and socialize a range of research studies that build a strong understanding of the needs of users.
Helping development teams test current and upcoming solutions.
Work to bring research throughout the process of developing and optimizing new features that elevate the BrightDrop experience.
Ultimately, this role will be accountable for creating useful, usable, and delightful products
We Are Looking For:
8 years of relevant work experience owning and leading research, working cross-functionally and thinking strategically to inform research for one or more broad or complex product areas
Ability to operate autonomously as an early member of the UX Research team
A belief that research and insights directly shape products. Ability to look at a set of needs across the business and identify opportunities, themes, and potential for both broad & practical impact.
Experience working with hardware and software products.
The ability to translate research findings into product priorities and strategic narratives, new business opportunities, within and across different projects.
Proven leadership skills particularly in driving and partnering with cross-functional teams, and key stakeholders.
A strong working knowledge and extensive experience with multiple generative and evaluative research methods, how to apply them in a fast- moving organization, and experience mentoring or coaching other researchers on the use of these methods.
Experience working with global cross-functional teams that are nimble, dynamic, and collaborative.
A person that thrives operating in conditions of uncertainty.
Great to also have:
Understanding of in-vehicle driver distraction, engineering guidelines, and methods for evaluating human workload.
Ergonomics experience.
Experience with rapid fabrication and prototyping methods.
The expected base compensation for this role is: (112,142 - 175,401 USD Annual). Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
