The Principal Designer for Design Systems at BrightDrop will be responsible for driving the vision, strategy, roadmap, implementation adoption, buildout & execution of BrightDrop's software UI components, icons, type, language and interaction patterns and standards across all of our software product surfaces. The BrightDrop design system and software UI language will encompass:

Motion & Transitions
Implementation Documentation & Specifications
This role will conceive and shape the platform UI standards to enable cross team consistency & brand integrity for all of our software experiences (in- vehicle, desktop, tablet and mobile). The work will touch many contexts such as in-vehicle productivity workflows, enterprise management dashboards & cutting-edge data-visualizations. You will be working closely with other principal designers within the Courier and Enterprise work tracks to ensure we have the right foundational design system elements to meet the needs of our current and future software experiences.

Hybrid: This position will be located onsite at BrightDrop HQ in Palo Alto, CA 3 days per week.

What You Will Do
Lead the design creation and implementation of BrightDrop's visual language and componentry along with the tools, resources, and documentation that support the design system
Responsible for building and maintaining cross functional relationships across the company and evangelizing the adoption of the system
Provide design guidance to the design team around using shared patterns
Collaborating with your peers in Courier/Enterprise to Identify opportunities to create new UI/UX patterns and components to support the growing needs and evolving product features
Generate high fidelity mockups, production assets, micro-interactions & prototypes
Maintain Figma libraries for Vehicle, Mobile, and Desktop
Provide framework thinking for accessibility and inclusion in both the design and development process
Partner with Engineering to implement and streamline the use of design tokens
Create detailed design documentation of feature work for implementation
Define, scope, and prioritize UX Design Systems work to effectively meet sprint goals and implementation milestones
Work closely with other team members including Product Managers and Researchers to receive critical feedback and iterate to make the best possible product
Present work to executive & leadership teams
We Are Looking For
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science or equivalent
8+ years of relevant work experience in Interaction design and information architecture
Proven experience designing systems at scale
A full-stack designer with a great portfolio
Comfortable in high paced environments
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Substantial experience in design leadership, creative direction, coaching & mentoring
Substantial experience in leading and driving UX in the context of agile sprints
Willingness to dive into projects with a blank slate & learning/listening mindset
Ability to analyze and synthesize complex design challenges in order to support an informed, creative process
Ability to zoom out and see the bigger picture, while zooming in to rationalize and perfect the nuanced details
Able to have a spirited & articulated debate with fellow designers and cross-functional partners
Advanced proficiency in design and prototyping tools, such as Figma and ProtoPie
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant in the California Bay Area which includes the following counties: Marin, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz might be paid in accordance with the California law. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.
The annual salary range for this role is $197,100 - $301,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position. A company vehicle will be provided as well.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
