In this Principal Software Engineer role, you will play a significant role in initiating and setting strategic technical direction, and leading effort in developing services and systems that would take BrightDrop to the next level in the electrified last-mile delivery ecosystem. This role provides a unique opportunity where you will be working across all of the BrightDrop software products, and truly steering the future of BrightDrop's system architecture, APIs, products, and customers. What you get to do in this role:
Initiate, scope and lead strategic technical projects with impact across company
Spearhead new platform and systems that would unlock and accelerate new opportunities and accelerate BrightDrop's future
Build and launch new cutting-edge capabilities such as ML systems and products that bring significant value to customers internal and external
Serve as a role model for software domain expertise by developing, sharing, elevating the quality bar and engineering efficiency for software teams at BrightDrop
Work effectively with stakeholders across the organization including dependency engineering teams, product, design, infrastructure and operations
Mentor senior engineers to be the next generation of technical leaders
Explore new technologies and enrich our technological stack
Advise BrightDrop leadership team on key technical considerations and roadmap
Qualifications:
9+ years of hands-on backend software development
Proven expertise in cutting edge domain specialization experience such as ML
Have initiated, led and delivered complex technical projects that delivered significant impact to customers internal and external
Proven experience in system architecture design and take from concept to production
Have served as the technical lead across multiple teams within engineering
Have owned the technical roadmap for large business areas
Have proven track record in writing high quality production code that is tested thoroughly, supported by clear documentation and has appropriate production observability
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with IoT stack is a big plus
BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Engineering preferred
The expected base compensation for this role is: ($217,440 - $ 321,150 USD Annual). Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
