The Product Security team at BrightDrop ensures the security of our products and services and are the domain experts for our engineering and IT teams to protect our customers' data in today's dynamic threat landscape. We are a team of highly skilled security engineers that specialize in security research, penetration testing, and security architecture. We evaluate a broad range of technologies including sophisticated web applications, IoT platforms, distributed processing, Cloud environments and isolation of entrusted code.

As a Hardware Technical Project Manager , you will work closely with the hardware engineering team to expand our electronic pallet and embedded device portfolio by bringing design concepts from early prototypes to full-scale production units. You will drive daily planning, tracking, development and validation activities to meet the overall project objectives, including major functionality, quality, and on-time delivery. You will also work with internal, cross-functional teams, such as product management, operations, procurement, customer service and system safety, in a fast-paced, business, technology, and operations environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, communicate and maintain detailed project plans based on resources, deliverables, dependencies, risks and schedule targets

  • Connect with internal and external partners to supervise and support ongoing project progress

  • Lead project kickoff and close-out meetings with stakeholders to ensure alignment at the start and end of a project

  • Create and handle the statements of work and purchase requests for parts, tools, equipment and services from external suppliers

  • Handle 3rd party suppliers and design and manufacturing partners to ensure deadlines are achieved and deliverables are provided in a consistent and timely manner

  • Partner with procurement and manufacturing operations teams to coordinate external vendor and partner schedules, deliverables, and purchase order payments

  • Drive multiple projects, in parallel, through on-time delivery with multi- functional team members

  • Handle risks across your program to ensure implementation plans meet project requirements

  • Effectively and regularly communicate project progress against the project plan

  • Identify areas where processes could be improved and simplified

  • Communicate decisions and actions based on data-driven rationale in a timely manner

    Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years of hardware project management development experience working within an engineering team on products combining mechanical and electrical design and development and covering the complete product lifecycle from concept through launch and sustaining

  • Proficient in applying project management techniques for scoping, scheduling, budgeting, assessing quality and risks, and handling critical paths

  • Experience presenting program status and risk mitigation plans to management personnel

  • Familiarity with the hardware engineering BOM (bill of materials) and change management processes

  • Experience creating and maintaining large, complex project schedules using tools such MS Project or Smartsheet

  • Well-organized and timely with respect to taking and posting meeting notes, assigning and driving action item closure, tracking and driving work you're doing and risk mitigations

  • Strong detail-oriented and analytical skills

  • Track record of competency in resolving program conflicts, mitigating risks, and driving issues to resolution

  • Able to confidently handle fast-paced environments

  • Solid verbal, written, and presentation skills

  • Technically adept with a BS degree in Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering, or equivalent degree

  • Prior experience working as a hardware engineer is a plus

  • Experience working on hardware projects that involve firmware development is a plus

  • Experience with engineering R&D projects involving rapid-prototyping is a plus

    The expected base compensation for this role is: (90,223 - 144,123 USD Annual). Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
