The Role:
This position reports to the Director of Contracts of GM Defense LLC. . As the Business Leader, you will assist the GMD Director of Contracts to develop policies, procedures and work instructions that ensure GMD is compliant with Government bidding regulations and requirements while working collaboratively with the GMD core team.
You will be responsible for leading the Front End of the Business Contracts Team and interfacing closely with Business Development and other functions to provide support to the growth programs and pursuits of GMD. This position requires that you interface with assigned GM Defense (GMD) Government Contract Business Lines and involves direct interfacing with internal senior leadership across the Global Organization, external interfacing with DoD personnel, various Governmental and Non-Governmental Agencies and International customers. A comprehensive knowledge of global customer contract regulations and requirements is critical.
What You'll Do:
Lead team responsible for cradle to grave contract support to bids and proposals for GMD.
Assist with the overall implementation of sound Contracting processes and procedures during the pre-award and negotiation phase of our pursuits.
Lead negotiations on complex DoD, International and offset contracts
Lead team and be responsible for Contracts and Subcontracts support for Bid and Proposal Activities on future GMD programs.
Research compliance issues, interpret regulations formulate recommendations using knowledge of FAR/DFARS and other procurement regulations as appropriate.
Assist with the drafting of contractual documents including but not limited to NDA's, TA's and Subcontract Agreements.
Develop and maintain process for tracking and timely closure of actions as well as changes management
Lead Subcontracts and Purchasing Business line with establishment of compliant procurement processes and procedures and other activities as needed
Support contract management and compliance training initiatives.
Attend and interface in key meeting
Effectively communicate complex contracts issues to company executives and external representatives.
Maintain strong relationships with key GMD Government Contract stakeholders
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree
7-10 years of progressive DoD Contracts Management Experience
Experience with US Government acquisition including FAR Part 12 and 15
Ability to develop creative and innovative solutions in coordination with the Business Areas
Deep working knowledge of the end-to end contract process (pre-award, award, post award, and contract closeout) in the Government contracting industry
Strong negotiations skills and demonstrated accomplishment of negotiation complex DoD, International and offset contracts
Strong customer relationship skill with experience in US DoD environment
Strong leadership skills to help implement strategy and provide clear and concise direction to team day to day issues
Advanced level of understanding and ability to interpret and apply the Federal Acquisition Regulations and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations
Strong track record of contracts performance within an organization
Demonstrated ability to achieve goals through influencing, partnering and developing productive relationships with senior leadership and the Contracts team across the multiple business areas. They should also be recognized as the “go to” person for bids and proposals for GM Defense Contracts and Subcontracts.
Ability to effectively communicate complex contracts issues to company executives and external representatives.
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
Large, public company experience (at least mid-tier) in government contracting (DoD preferred)
Experience working Part 12 contracting and implementing commercial technology in military applications including subcontracting
Experience bringing commercial technology into the defense space
Ability to quickly understand a wide variety of vehicle and engineering technologies, including both hardware and software within the automotive industry
Ability to interact with individuals throughout a global organization in a professional and business-like manner.
Ability to interpret and /or understand financial data
Strong track record of contracts performance within an organization
Ability to effectively communicate complex contracts issues to company executives and external representatives.
Compensation:
The expected base compensation for this role is: ($104,700 - $163,800). Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
