Onsite - Position requires an employee to be onsite on a fulltime basis at our Chesterfield, Michigan location.
We're seeking a motivated candidate for a calibration engineering position in GM's OEM Engineering group. A typical week includes providing test schedules and software/calibrations to the test facility. It also includes the review of data/test results and the support of testing issues with different groups as they arise.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Communicate optimized controls calibrations to meet performance and timing targets
Support Lead Calibration Engineer/Diagnostic Strategist to assure algorithms meet VTS/SSTS requirements
Conduct calibration reviews to ensure high quality
Organize, plan, and coordinate calibration activities with Lead Calibrator and PDT to maximize resource efficiency
Support identification of requirements for resources to develop calibrations
Aid in Diagnoses and correct vehicle, system, and controls deficiencies
Support resolution of vehicle, plant, durability/dyno, or customer issues
Participate in program calibration team meetings/activities
Participate in development trips and related test activities
Adhere to all Safety Precautions and Requirements, and treat safety as the top priority during all work activities
Responsible for integration of hardware, algorithms and release of calibrations to meet requirements
Qualifications:
BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemical Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering is ( Required)
3+ years of calibration or embedded controls experience required
4 - 6 years of overall engineering experience is required
Ability to travel as required for offsite testing
Strong understanding of engine/transmission function, engine controls and engine related vehicle performance interactions
Demonstrated expertise in Engine Controls
Demonstrated teamwork and consensus building skills
Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communications
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering
Quick learner, able to handle planned and unplanned work, and able to handle multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced engineering or master's degree
Vehicle and Transmission Development Experience
Controls, instrumentation/tools experience
Test Engineer or algorithm development experience
Diesel engine calibration experience
Transmission calibration experience
Demonstrated experience in engine dyno development or validation preferred
