General Motors' Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) group unlocks a new level of potential by further integrating our vehicles with their digital world. SDV has created Ultifi, a new vehicle intelligence platform, designed to unlock new vehicle experiences. With Ultifi, we will connect with customers through software-defined features, apps and services via Over-the-Air (OTA). The new platform works by separating key software from the hardware to simplify the OTA process, enabling us to provide more robust updates and cloud-services to our customers.

SDV is looking for a Data Scientist with an extensive applied statistics background who will become part of a newly formed data analytics team. The SDV Super Cruise Analytics team is focused on providing analytical insights about Super Cruise usage to several internal customers across GM. It is a highly collaborative, driven, and bold organization that embraces innovation and challenges.

This position will play a significant role in our SDV family. It requires extensive knowledge of applied statistics, specifically: create and identify meaningful, actionable statistics based on business needs, ensure applied statistical analyses are unbiased, accurate and precise, and identify problems, solutions, and opportunities from data analyses. Typical work includes collaborating with Data Engineers and other Data Scientists on the team within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to complete analytical assignments. You'll also act as a statistical mentor/consultant to others on the team.

  • Analyze large, complex structured and unstructured data sets

  • Advanced degree in statistics, mathematics, data science or a related technical field
  • Minimum 5+ years of work experience in applied statistics or analytics
  • Strong expertise with the following statistical methods: time series analysis, categorical data analysis, multivariate analysis, and clustering
  • Expertise visually charting and graphing data to convey a story
  • Experience creating and identifying meaningful, actionable statistics based on business needs
  • Experience with machine learning (supervised or unsupervised), statistical modeling, and text mining to meet analytical objectives
  • Proficient with one or more data mining / predictive modeling tools such as Python and R, as well as proficiency in SQL
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Power BI and Azure Cloud Computing Service experience
  • Software Telemetry data
  • Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems, such as Advanced Driver-Assistance (ADAS), Motion Control, Automotive Network, and Powertrain
  • Experience working with distributed computing tools (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.) and Machine Learning pipelines (Spark, DASK, Argo, etc.)
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $86,460 - $141,060. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
