This is a Hybrid position within General Motors. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week.

About the role:

Our Customer Experience studio is seeking a Brand Design Ops Manager to optimize the communication, processes, and output of our digital design studio and manage partnerships with brand and agency teams while leading a design ops team in the execution of UX/UI work. Our CX studio creates customer-facing digital experiences across multiple brands and platforms, touching millions of lives across in-vehicle, web, mobile and wearable interfaces.

About you:

As the Design Ops Brand Manager you will work collaboratively with design and brand leadership, multi-disciplinary design teams, agency partners, and business stakeholders to understand, plan, track, and deliver world class digital brand experiences.

You will be expected to use a high level of program management knowledge and GM Brand experience ensuring our design studio is deepening our brand partnerships

with an Agile software development approach.

The ideal candidate will have experience communicating and presenting to senior leadership, delivering successful digital products in both client and agency environments, and a knack for organizing work to enable high-performing creative teams.

Responsibilities
  • Own and optimize relationship management, driving productive partnerships with our brand and agency teams.
  • Manage planning and effective collaboration protocols between our studio and multiple brand teams, agencies, and 3rd party partners
  • Define operating standards for our studio and brand team partners leading the continuous improvement of processes and documentation in a rapidly evolving corporate environment
  • Coordinate and manage logistics for all agency engagements including process definition, work planning, and quality governance
  • Assist in scoping and determining milestones and schedules for studio projects; manage changes to project plans and priorities, and help manage downstream impacts to other project timelines and resource capacity
  • Maintain documentation and dashboards that allow for quick and efficient understanding of resource capacity and project status; report on status regularly
  • Manage a midsize team of direct design program managers that support design initiatives studio-wide

    Additional Description Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience managing teams that create user interfaces, digital products, or complex software applications across a range of channels
  • Bachelors degree in HCI, Product Design, IT, Business, Engineering, Communications or related discipline
  • Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organized, and timeline driven
  • Strong analytical thinking skills with the proven ability to synthesize and reconcile complex, interdependent, and sometimes competing requirements
  • Change management experience, including a track record of developing new processes and fostering mindset changes with teams
  • Solid understanding of the user experience design process, SCRUM / Agile methodologies, and software development lifecycles
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in HCI, Product Design, IT, Business, Engineering, Communications or related discipline
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or another Project Management Institute (PMI) certification preferred
