Hybrid Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite an average of three (3) days each week.
The Role:
As a Design Release Engineer you will head up all activities for the Design, VDDV (Analysis), Development, Validation, and production implementation of adhesives. By acting as the “CEO” of your parts/systems, your technical and project management skills will be key to the success of our current and future engine programs.
This position does not require you to be on-site full-time to perform effectively. This role enables you to work at a GM facility and off-site on a 60/40 time split.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Lead the overall execution of ADHESIVES for joints, throughout the Global Powertrain Development Process (GPDP)
Work cross-functionally with various areas such as Design, VDDV, Purchasing, Validation, and Manufacturing, within the Product Development Team (PDT) as PDT Lead to ensure program technical and timing requirements are achieved
Demonstrate that designs meet requirements through VDDV, development, and validation processes
Define hardware and budget requirements for experimental build programs
Lead warranty issue resolution and cost/quality improvements with suppliers and in-house manufacturing
Support the read-across and creation of new Best Practices/ Lessons Learned
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Chemistry
High level of social skills to enable effective collaboration within a team environment and with all levels of the organization, both in person and remotely.
5+ years experience in automotive ADHESIVES (development and/or release)
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Master of Science in Engineering or Chemistry or Master of Business Administration degree
Comprehensive understanding of Product Engineering Tools/ Processes (ECM, TWO, GPDP, PRTS, DFMEA/PFMEA, P-Release, etc.)
Cross-functional experience in Calibration, Manufacturing, Validation, VDDV, etc., with proven results and outstanding team-based achievements
Experience reading schematic diagrams
