The role:

GM Design's Advanced Studio located in North Hollywood, CA, is looking for a Digital Sculptor who will be responsible for creating Class A surface data for scale and full size exterior and interior models of proposed corporate products. Your work will involve a considerable amount of creativity and initiative. You will work in a group situation, collaborating with Design and Engineering partners and supportive studio personnel. In this role, you must exercise wide latitude for independent judgement with only moderate supervision given by management.

What You'll Do:

  • Strong ability to translate sketches into finessed model with minimal design direction
  • Intuitive to new technology and applying them to improve existing techniques
  • Aid in design and engineering problem solving
  • Create new and improve existing digital models using other software programs
  • Produce finished data suitable for renderings, animations and rapid prototyping part creation
  • Coordinate input from internal and external customers to better understand their needs and or perceptions
  • Keep abreast of current product developments and trends in area of expertise
  • Comfortable with rapid modeling and iteration. Ability to use polygon/sub-d modeling to achieve this.
  • Attend appropriate program related meetings as defined by leadership
  • Perform basic assessment of surface quality (clay or digital)
  • Adhere to corporate data management processes (TeamCenter, SharePoint etc.) and communication systems (timekeeping, email etc.)

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • 5+ years of related experience preferred
  • Knowledge in Alias, Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya, and/or VRED
  • Ability to work under tight timelines and handle multiple assignments at once
  • Strong ability to create production math models using high tolerance specifications
  • Ability to build accurate math models from scan data
  • Ability to create high quality photorealistic renderings
  • Creative background with strong emphasis in graphic and digital applications
  • Areas of expertise and knowledge in NURBS modeling, Sub-d modeling, polygon modeling, rapid prototyping, NX, surfacing class A, surfacing class B, Animation, Dynamo (parametric design)
  • Past experience with clay (optional)
  • Knowledge in MS Office (Work, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Bachelor's level degree or equivalent combination of education and industry related experience required.

    Compensation:

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: 100,530 and 160,587 Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • You also need to include general information about potential commissions, if applicable.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
