Description

The Kapuskasing Cold Weather Development Centre is the primary test and validation centre for cold and durability testing of all General Motors products. We are now looking for Equipment Operator for Season Employment (full time 40 hours per week, Approximately December - April). The Cold Weather Development Centre is a 7 day per week operation with Weekday and Weekend shifts.

The primary responsibility of an Equipment Operator is to operate heavy equipment for snow removal at the facility yard and track using front end loaders, graders, sanders, broom trucks, etc. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Operate heavy equipment for snow removal at the facility yard and track (front end loader, grader, sander, broom trucks, etc)

  • Perform facility snow removal activities in accordance with the employee first tracks program by sanding/salting/removing snow from where the heavy equipment stops to the door and maintaining sand bins. This includes use of plow truck and manual shoveling/ice pick.

  • Job activities include some heavy lifting and working in a cold environment.

  • Support Facilities operations such as cold cells, garage, yard and buildings.

  • Support contractors performing work onsite and visiting customers.

  • Inventory and update tools in all toolboxes.

  • Maintain safe working environment

  • Capable of working flexible hours.

    Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma

  • Valid Driver's license

  • Clean driving record

  • DZ license

  • Demonstrated experience in driving heavy equipment – 5 years preferred

  • Demonstrated high regard for safety

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated time management skills

  • Demonstrated organizational skills

  • Demonstrated communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
