Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

The Event Coordinator represents Design Center with internal and external customers to establish event requirements. Creates schedules, directs setup and teardown of events. Hosts and facilitates event activities as assigned working directly with the support groups within Design and Global Facilities. Coordinates program reviews, large group meetings, tours and special events. This role is an individual contributor with responsibility for managing specific task(s) in the GMNA Design Business and Finance Operations group which may include budget development, reporting, and forecasting teams.

  • Gathers customer event requirements and offers suggestions regarding event logistics
  • Develops detailed event layouts, staging schedules and timeline
  • Contacts and acquires outside services as required to supplement event staging
  • Serves as liaison with outside service providers
  • Directs support services during setup and teardown
  • Accessibility at the event location
  • Assist in developing, establishing and maintaining Department procedures and governing event staging at Design Center
  • Schedule & monitor designated conference rooms
  • Assist in special events as required
  • Maintain an organized environment of Event Coordination HQ and staging areas
  • Maintain and update the event scheduler
  • Additional Description

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, or related field required 3+ years in event planning, sales, public relations, leading presentations, and/or related work experience required

  • Working knowledge of UAW labor agreements and the ability to identify UAW resources necessary required

  • High level interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, including Corporate executives, outside suppliers, matrix supervision, union trade groups and represented employees required
  • High-level analytical abilities to solve event planning and staging challenges, including “on-the-spot” resolution to unexpected show demands.
  • Extensive knowledge of organizational structures and operating policies/procedures required
  • Ability to complete complex projects independently
  • Intermediate skill level for Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility with changing work hours and environment as required
  • Availability to work Saturdays / Sundays if required
