Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. Job Description Summary:

The Launch QE Lead will be directly reporting to plant Quality Director and responsible for leading a team of Launch QE / plant IRT's to ultimately deliver the vehicle to Factory Zero by meeting all manufacturing integration requirements with Quality on time by collaborating with SMT DRE's, IRT, VSE, Development team, Program team, Manufacturing Core Team, Launch Coordinators and Execution ME's etc. Handle daily requests for problem solving issues affecting production and warranty. In a similar manner, present the Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition and technical guidance on issues affecting throughput till steady state production and metrics are met. This role will require strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead diverse/multi-functional teams as well as mentor, empower and elicit work output from peers and other team members. The QE Lead will also be directly responsible for planning and direction for entire Launch Quality Engineering Team for specific EV program(s) and to lead BSR, Wind & Water performance issue resolution for the specific program.

Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis

Responsibilities:
  • Dynamically optimize and prioritize team focus to ensure timely launch of product and emerging Vehicle Quality and Production Floor issues during launch
  • Follow all Site Safety Guidelines and urgently resolve identified Safety/Ergonomic Issues
  • Develop Quality related and professional skills of organization through attainment of Red X Technical Problem Solving, Built In Quality (BIQ) & Global Manufacturing System (GMS) compliance, Quality skills assessment completion, and other professional certifications
  • Engage in CIT meetings to provide key guidance to issues from a manufacturing integration perspective
  • Work with PPO QEM, CME, IRT, DRE's during IV (Integration vehicle) builds, document all issues on Easel board and PRC/PRTS
  • Actively engage in IRT, VIRT & launch wall meetings to drive all open Easel board, PRTS issues to closure at the earliest and call out issues that need help
  • Work with suppliers and engineering to develop inspection standards for parts and subassemblies and address SPPS/PRR issues to ensure robust countermeasures are implemented.
  • Share lessons learned with Engineering & plants with similar products to prevent repeat design or build issues.
  • Coordinate periodic system and process audits, quality evaluation of new vehicles, and engineering change implementation- TWO, ECR etc.
  • Support weekly CPIT, CTF and TAC meetings to address top warranty items.
  • Lead a clean transition of components with zero open item to plant continuous improvement team after launch team release
  • Document and implement Supplier Cost Recovery charges for financial impact associated with Supplier Quality issues
  • Work Off-Shifts and Domestic travel as required
  • Additional Description Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Automotive Manufacturing or similar industry
  • 4-year Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate ability to attain results, while balancing technical solutions with business imperatives (cost, mass, quality, performance).
  • Thorough understanding of lean manufacturing concepts and GD&T (Geometric Dimension & Tolerance) & ability to understand electrical circuit drawings.
  • Preferred:
  • 5+ years of Automotive Manufacturing and Leadership experience
  • EV/AV Vehicle development experience
  • QE or IRT experience
  • Red X Journeyman & DFSS black belt certification.
  • Supplier audit experience
  • Knowledge of PPQP, APQP, PPAP requirements
