Work Arrangement:
USA Field Assignment, working out of their home office located within 50 miles of Southfield, MI to cover assigned cases at GM dealers in their areas.
The Role:
In this role, you will give on-site automotive, business, and computer technical support to GM's retail and wholesale staff. You will help diagnose and repair vehicles. You will support the GM brand's quality by documenting and reporting your feedback on your findings in the field. You will assess the dealer's level of training and identify if the dealership has the appropriate equipment. You will act with professional integrity.
Hours on average, are 40 hours a week, with occasional work on nights and weekends depending on business needs. To be successful in this position, you will be a lifelong learner and work in partnership with others by communicating and collaborating effectively. You will hold others and yourself accountable for modeling GM's values and winning culture.
What You'll Do:
Monitor and respond to cases referred by the GM Technical Assistance and the Field Service Engineers Dispatch Centers.
Access GM's system and other resources to research the problem and find other similar cases and workable solutions.
Diagnose cases, recommend solutions, and direct repairs to reduce vehicle repurchases and warranty expense.
Verify that repairs were successful.
Write field product reports and state of health reports having your assessment of the dealer's level of training, and service readiness.
Provide Dealership service readiness feedback and support Techline products at GM Dealerships and other authorized facilities including certain GM Fleet accounts.
Cooperate with team members and resolve conflicts.
Train dealer's crew.
Follow safety and health rules/procedures.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Have the detailed automotive, mechanical, electronic, and electrical knowledge needed to diagnose and repair vehicles.
Know how to dissemble and reassemble automotive systems, such as transmissions; can explain the process to others; and can recognize when repairs are done correctly or incorrectly and why.
Can visually spot abnormalities in a vehicle.
Can clearly explain your findings and recommendations to dealers and technicians.
Can manage your time well.
Can use word processing software to create and keep correct documentation.
Have a cheerful outlook and a commitment to lifelong learning.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Knowledge of and experience repairing Electric Vehicles.
Able to run diagnostic equipment and data collection tools, such as TIS/GDS, NeoVi /V-Spy Intrepid Tools, Buffalo Tool, INCA Tool, and Pico Scope.
This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis.
