Description

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be on-site on average 3 days per week

The Role

Position is responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers. You will be responsible for logistics planning, purchasing related to Finished Vehicle logistics from an end to end standpoint.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for executing deliverables in support of the logistics organization's business objectives.
  • Provides support of one of the key areas within Logistics and / or Containers organization to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives.
  • Communicates within the function as well as other functions, external affiliates, regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers
  • Influences others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • Identify problems, update or modify work methods that may be complex in the work area without the benefit of defined procedures.
  • Promote GM's values and makes customer-focused decisions.
  • Removing Roadblocks & Resolving Issues/Complaints: Observes and steps up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues.

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field required
  • Minimum 5+ Years Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related experience required
  • Basic working knowledge of Logistics and supply chains
  • Knowledge of the Customer Care & Aftersales distribution network
  • Knowledge of Truckload, Less Than Truckload, Intermodal, Rail, and Ocean service providers and their distribution networks
  • Knowledge of the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain processes, procedures, and audit guidelines
  • High level analytical ability in situations where the problems are somewhat complex
  • High level of capability to work independently
  • Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Negotiation skills
  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time
  • Capable of interpreting contracts
  • Demonstrated global business skills
  • Ability to travel
  • What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience in Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, or Customer Care & Aftersales
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Knowledge of materials management
  • Capable of interpreting market data
  • Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
  • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
