Description

The Manufacturing Controls Engineer is an Individual contributor with recognized expertise responsible for tasks and work throughout the entire vehicle manufacturing. This includes: requirements definition, systems design and implementation, testing, and problem resolution. Need to be able to analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical problems in manufacturing processes. Must have ability to work autonomously with occasional guidance from direct leader.

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document requirements required to design an automotive system
  • Design and manage key strategic interfaces within systems to enable component reuse and consistency to standard methodologies
  • Oversee requirements development with other activities
  • Provide support to other specialists for root cause analysis
  • Strong ability to expertly capture and analyze empirical data.
  • Design Tests to efficiently find opportunities for design improvements
  • Stay on top of industry trends, technologies, and standard methodologies
  • Identify and document system vulnerabilities and craft mitigation action plans; track corrective actions
  • Design / modify electrical control circuits and programs
  • Support plant Continuous Improvement activities
  • High level of interpersonal skills with sensitivity to other's points of view and to make contributions to the resolution of complex manufacturing problems.
  • Develop and plan electrical projects
  • Supervise/oversee/ support project installations by contractors and plant trades
  • Additional Description Qualifications:
  • At least 12 months of Manufacturing Controls Engineering experience
  • Electrical Engineering degree preferred, or equivalent experience (Journeyman electrician with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment)
  • HMI software – Siemens WinCC and TIA Portal, and Rockwell FactoryTalk View
  • PLC hardware – Rockwell ControlLogix family, Siemens 300, and Fanuc LEP Rockwell Powerflex / Kinetix
  • Fanuc Robots - programming and troubleshooting is highly desirable
  • Willing to work overtime and off-shit production support
