Summary of Responsibilities

We are seeking to hire a Senior Product Manager who will be responsible for bringing to market stationary energy storage hardware products within the Ultium Commercial product line. This role will specifically focus on fleet customer adoption of energy storage infrastructure solutions that accelerate EV adoption. This team member will hold responsibility for the successful commercialization of one or more energy storage products and oversee product management activities described below. Effective collaboration and planning with sales, marketing, finance, purchasing, engineering and other functional teams will be critical for success. Due to the nature of the small, but growing team, additional day to day responsibilities shall be expected.

This position will report to the Lead Product Manager responsible for the Ultium Commercial Energy Storage product line.

Objectives & Key Deliverables

  • Hold Product Management responsibility for the launch of energy storage product(s), leading or coordinating activity including but not limited to the following:
  • Identify and quantify voice of customer needs
  • Price competitiveness and elasticity studies and establishing pricing recommendations with sales teams
  • Competitive product benchmarking
  • Research and evaluate internal and external capabilities and opportunities related to future energy products
  • Definition of product requirements, journey mapping, customer clinics, and timing and resource needs
  • Definition of go to market and sales strategy, informed by relevant energy market research and analysis
  • Ensure the delivery of commercially saleable products that meet requirements and timing while working closely with supporting organizations across GM
  • Manage products throughout their lifecycle – from incubation to end of life
  • Intelligently monitor market growth and developments to anticipate future opportunities and quantify product opportunity
  • Own accountability for material costs within the organization's P&L for one or more energy storage product
  • Identify and enable the resources, budget, and relationships required for successful commercialization of energy storage product – working closely with business development, engineering, purchasing, marketing, and manufacturing teams
  • Enable issue resolution across teams and balance competing priorities from internal stakeholders to deliver a customer-centric product
  • Work closely with engineering and supply chain to execute equipment sourcing and track compliance with product requirements
  • Communicate clearly with leadership to ensure awareness of progress, successes, risks, and concerns
  • Help define future generation product requirements and execution strategies, learning from near term product development activity while soliciting feedback and input from cross functional team members
  • With technical and commercial guidance from others, develop and obtain consensus on future product requirements, specifications and performance requirements based on qualitative and quantitative analysis of customer and market needs
  • Support or lead continuous customer empathy interviews and competitive product research

    Required Skills / Experience / Education:

  • 8+ years of prior professional experience required, with preference for experience in fleet vehicle and/or clean energy industries

  • Demonstrated experience successfully launching product and relevant product management duties required

  • Prior experience with electric fleet vehicle customers and markets required, with an emphasis on EV charging infrastructure that enables Fleet electrification

  • Previous experience in the energy industry preferred, with emphasis on energy storage, distributed energy resources and/or EV charging preferred

  • Ability to learn and understand battery technology, energy concepts, and power systems to make technical and business recommendations to leadership

  • Ability to learn and understand stationary energy storage engineering standards, policies, regulatory standards, and procedures and their implications on product requirements

  • Excellent communication, presentation, relationship development, and organizational skills

  • Team player attitude internally and externally

  • Prior experience in start-up and global enterprise business structures preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant business or technical field required (or equivalent)

  • Master's degree in a relevant business or technical field preferred

  • Proven customer-centric focus amidst competing priorities

  • Creative and innovative mindset with a relentless focus on continuous improvement

  • Desire to work in a complex and evolving environment while driving innovation

  • Willing to participate in occasional conference calls outside of typical business hours to support discussions with international stakeholder(s)

  • Willing to travel approximately 20% of the time, as necessary to execute responsibilities of the position

  • Remote: This position does not require the employee to be on-site full- time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work off-site on a permanent basis with 20% travel.

    Compensation:

  • The expected base compensation for this role is $100,530 - $160,587 USD Annually

  • Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
