Job Summary
The Health Center Medical Director is responsible for local medical leadership and management of Health Center operations. They oversee and provide direct patient care and treatment, perform medical examinations, integrate with the local business, oversee the site emergency response program, and promote health and well-being. This position also provides oversight for Milford Proving Ground, Desert Proving Ground and Pontiac Engineering Center

Overall Health Center Operation oversight responsibility (management, programs, and personnel)
Communication
Monthly staff meetings
Review of BPD
Meet with Nurse Supervisor regularly to review and discuss operational concerns and issues (patient care, staffing, business partner issues)
Compliance
Ensure compliance with Policy & Procedures including ORM requirements
Conduct Health Center Self-Assessment
ORM Approver for site
Assure completion of all required qualification and surveillance exams at all sites
Assure compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. BBP, injury illness reporting) at all sites
Assure quality of medical care and medical records as verified on Audits
Timekeeping Approval
Perform or Delegate Nurse Supervisor duties in their absence including schedule, TKS, Beeline, Call-Offs, EOH charts, etc.
Manage complex staff issues
Participate in local nursing negotiations at represented sites
Facilitate resolution with staff including 2nd step grievance at represented sites
Direct report support and management
Complete CAP process for direct reports; 9 box and comp planning for site medical team
Assure training of nurses per roadmaps for new hires and license and training workbook
Coach and mentor medical staff
Encourage all staff to actively pursue an IDP annually
Serve as Hiring Manager for new supervisor at times of vacancy
Medical Examinations
Evaluation, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Occupational /Non-occupational injuries and Illnesses
Provide higher level medical determination for medical surveillance and qualification exams when required
Perform DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Exams as a certified medical examiner for CDL Drivers and Chauffeur License Drivers
Disability/WC management
Conduct Peer-to-peer reviews in conjunction with FFD, RTW, TPD, restrictions, etc.
Evaluate T&PD applications for site
Complete FFD Exams
Integrate with Business Partners (Connection to the business)
Provide Medical expertise to site Management, HR, Labor, Safety, IH, ERGO, etc.
Provide visibility on the plant floor via walkthrough and placement activity with ADAPT and Ergo
Interface with Senior Leadership and HR/LR for multiple business units addressing a wide variety of unique challenges
Active member of the Chemical Control Committee, provide medical expertise during meetings, review and medically approve SDS's presented and discussed.
Attend 95% of meetings – PSRB, Ergo, Hearing, HMCC, DIP, etc.
Responsible for the site Emergency Response Program
Oversight of the First Responder Program
Review and approve annual emergency response plan
Plan, conduct and observe mock runs followed by a review and debrief with the team
Review all actual emergency response runs and address issues as appropriate
Support Wellness/Wellbeing initiatives at the site
Joint Wellness Committee and LifeSteps
Support Global Business Travel
Includes International Service Personnel, International Temporary Assignment Personnel and short-term Business Travelers
Interface with GM Mobility and relocation management company vendor supporting travelers
Provide pre assignment medical exams, periodic exams, repatriation exams, arrange for required lab work and imaging, provide Immunization counselling for employee and family members, discuss unique host country health risks as needed, provide vaccinations and counselling to address potential infectious disease risks, malaria prophylaxis and other preventive travel medication
Make a medical determination of employee fitness for the ISP assignment based on all the information and forward the medical determination to the relevant parties.
Requirements

Education and Training
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree required
Board certification in a medical specialty required, preferably in occupational medicine. Board certification in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and family medicine are also acceptable.
Valid Michigan State medical license
