The Department:

The HR, Payroll and Talent Acquisition team are responsible for providing a wide range of operational support to various GM departments and teams based in Limerick, Dublin and the UK. We work extensively with our global colleagues, and we strive to provide the best operational support across all departments which enables GM to meet its operational and strategic objectives.


HR Intern

As a HR Intern at General Motors, you will be responsible for supporting the HR Department in various administrative tasks related to recruitment and on- boarding, employee engagement, performance management and compliance. This is a hands-on opportunity to work closely with HR Professionals, learn from their expertise, and gain practical skills that will shape your HR career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and update the GM IT Intranet website. Assist in the development and delivery of internal communications, materials, organizing and preparing of materials for companywide meetings.
  • Support the onboarding process of new hires, including preparing orientation materials, conducting new employee onboarding and induction sessions to ensure a smooth transition into the company.
  • Assist & provide administrative support as necessary for HR related actions i.e. data preparation and reporting, data analysis, preparing HR letters, arranging meetings, departmental email inbox, management of distribution lists.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits such as health insurance and bike to work scheme.
  • Help maintain accurate employee records and HR Databases, ensuring timely and accurate data entry and management.
  • Participate in employee engagement and retention initiatives, such as organizing company events and employee recognition programs.
  • Provide administrative support in performance management processes, such as employee goal setting and performance evaluations, and taking accurate notes of performance meetings.
  • Respond to employee inquires related to HR policies and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist in the recruitment process, including applying for work permits.
  • Assist with the offboarding of employees, including conducting exit interviews.
  • Assist with HR related projects including Employee Engagement projects and activities.
  • Assist with the Sports and Social Committee.
  • Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate Bachelor degree in HR Management or a related field
  • Knowledge of HR laws and regulations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills are essential
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management
  • Candidates should be highly motivated and able to work proactively, both individually with minimal supervision and as part of a team
