Description

The Industrial Engineer Manager will work directly with production in implementing lean manufacturing systems. They will analyze throughput data to help departments improve performance. They will be responsible to handle standardized work for future products alongside the core team and help to launch extraordinary products. In steady state, they will drive continuous improvement projects and be responsible for GMS implementation. The GMS Lead is a direct report for the IE Manager.

  • Analyzes labor requirements for Stamping, Body, Paint, GA and Battery Assembly.
  • Validate and coach cyclic and non-cyclic standardized work
  • Analyze workflow
  • Maintain accurate databases using GM Standard Time Data
  • Support Material strategies
  • Analyzes problems related to labor efficiency and proposes and implements solutions
  • Responsible for labor and efficiency reports for assigned area as part of plant reports to headquarters
  • Gathers and analyzes data to generate sufficiency plans for year over year labor utilization improvements
  • Lead Continuous Improvement and Re-Balance activities
  • Develops layouts, addresses ergonomic issues, and procures and improves material handling devices
  • Lead throughput improvement activities with other engineering and maintenance groups
  • Work is done in cross-functional team environment

  • Supports suggestion program labor impacts

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
  • Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
  • Required Qualifications

  • Manufacturing or relative engineering experience required – Preferred 5+ years
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical experience
  • Excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members to solve problems
  • Proven ability in project management skills
  • Strong presentation skills - capable to teach training courses to all levels of the plant
  • Knowledge in MS Excel – Intermediate to Advance level preferred
  • Knowledge of work measurement and work standards
  • Preferred: Qualifications

  • Manufacturing experience in Vehicle Assembly
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Experience in GMOS / SMLBS
  • Experience in Cimplicity and APS
  • This position may require off-shift production support at times
