This opportunity is a part of GM's Exploring Careers through Experiential Learning (EXCEL). EXCEL is a co-op and internship program for engineering college students to build foundational skills, and greater exposure and understanding of our business. EXCEL aims to develop and strengthen the future of our organization through co-op development assignments, networking, and annual development opportunities. This program requires a four-year commitment and consists of 8 three-month assignments. Upon completion of the program, participants are matched to opportunities based on interest and business needs. This position will be located primarily in Warren, MI, however, you may be assigned to Milford, MI or Pontiac, MI.
Co-op rotations are set to begin in October 2023
Additional DescriptionQualifications:
2023 High School Graduate
Currently pursuing a degree at Kettering University in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Demonstrates leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities, or service organizations
Enrolled in the co-op program at your university.
Desired Skills:
Must have a minimum of a 3.0 overall High School GPA on a 4.0 scale
Strong interest in General Motors career opportunities
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
Emerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed
Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust
Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric
GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to each student selected for the 2023 Student Program.

Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full- time basis.
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be onsite full- time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.
