Managing projects while supporting daily manufacturing operations within a team environment is a rewarding experience! In this role your work will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards meeting required safety guidelines. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to troubleshoot and follow issues to resolve. You will be responsible to lead a technical team for equipment related to the manufacturing process. Lead the plant Controls Engineering team engaged in production operation support to drive CI activities across all departments (Body, Paint and GA). Substantial independent judgment in complex or unusual situations is typical. Your responsibility will involve training team members and assigning work to the team as necessary to manage deliverables.
Manage team of Control Engineers responsible for plant operational support (Body, Paint & GA).
Trains, develops, selects, and evaluates plant Control Engineering employees.
Assists in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems.
Manage controls-related electrical projects including installation of new or replacement equipment, continuous improvement initiatives, and periodic repair and refurbishment.
Participate in functional area plant meetings to represent Manufacturing Engineering and assist in improving the plant's performance.
Support daily production activities, including investigating conveyor and equipment issues to provide technical input for problem resolution.
Coordinate with departmental tech support engineers and HQ Vehicle Systems engineers on new model process and equipment planning, including model changes, throughput improvements, sourcing, etc.
Support GMS and BIQ4 initiatives.
Manage assigned WSS Performance Safety Standard.
Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority and implement objectives for improved ergonomics, health/safety.
Maintain good working relationships with peers, represented & non- represented employees.
Provide input into the establishment of Manufacturing Engineering plant budget, NPP funding forecasts, and appropriation request estimates.
Maintain proficiency in his/her field.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
5+ years Control Engineering experience
Ability to program and troubleshoot within the current Allen-Bradley processor
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusually difficult
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
High level of written and oral communication skills
Ability to work OT or off-shift as necessary
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
Prior salary employee leadership experience
Experience working in a union environment
Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
