Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. Job Description:

The lead dimensional engineer will be responsible for managing vehicle fit/finish based on key process metrics from customer feedback; GCA & A/B/C/FVS metrics. You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process. Your responsibility may also involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees. The Lead Dimensional Engineer will collaborate cross-functionally with different plant teams/partners. This requires effective communication with production, maintenance, suppliers, and shop committee. The work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision making and individual judgment. (GM Internal Candidates: This is a L7 position).

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Build a highly engaged dimensional engineering team
  • Promotes, educates, communicates, and follows up on safety initiatives
  • Monitor body six pillar of quality performance inside and outside the department using voice of customer metrics to drive continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes, Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) and management systems as they relate to production operations in a BIQ 4 plant
  • Support fast response and six pillar of quality process reviews
  • Support GCA, DRR, FTQ, DRL and CPIT problem resolution activities including sufficiency planning and ensure accurate communication between internal and external partners
  • Implement 6 pillars of quality process and required process control plans to meet BIQ IV
  • Execute process control plan changes and feedback into PQRS
  • Provide day to day technical direction to the dimensional supporting staff
  • Keep all metrology tooling – (including Leica Scanning, Vision, Laser Gage, Faro, checking fixtures, ITAC & ETAC fixtures, Scan Box; Gap & Flush system etc.) in proper working order per specified standards to maintain PCP compliance and reduce measurement system error
  • Support documented quality check plan and supervise personnel to ensure compliance
  • Ensure vision alarms are in place and functioning with corrective action and response plans when alarms are generated
  • Maintain a shim and process change logs for all tooling, dimensional data flow (through the dimensional data manager) to ensure integral data is being displayed in appropriate sites (CDIS, GDIS) and postings to Data Wall

    Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum 3 years of Dimensional Engineering and/or Statistical experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or Related Field
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), dimensional metrics (E31, A/B/C/FVS) & datum strategies
  • Working knowledge of metrology processes including scanning
  • Knowledge of Body and GA build strategies, BIW closures & fab processes.
  • Computer Literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), PolyWorks (or similar metrology software), Team Center
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering or related field
  • Management/Supervisory experience as it relates to manufacturing
