Working as a Motor and Generator (M&G) Service Application Engineer, you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting scheduled maintenance service, troubleshooting and repair activities at customer sites performed by fellow ABB M&G Field Engineers. Additionally, you will provide technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals. In this role, you will Coordinate engineering discipline across several projects. Provide engineering support for engineered-to-order solutions during the bid phase, execution, testing, installation and commissioning, analyzes and interpret data. You will make technical recommendations in various phases of service activities to ensure successful delivery of service deliverables on time, within budget and in line with quality and safety guidelines.

Your responsibilities
  • Assist M&G project managers and project coordinators in technical reviews and discussions with customers, partners, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Leverage the ABB Factory technical support network and sound engineering practices to resolve non-conformances discovered by ABB M&G Field Engineers while performing maintenance and repair activities at customer sites on ABB branded rotating machines.
  • Support customer requests for solutions to observations made on ABB rotating machines, determine course of action, engage appropriate ABB Team members.
  • Assist sales managers with claims, customer specifications and safety standards.
  • Create and deliver work plans and man-hr budgets, as well as risk assessments relevant to executing M&G services.
  • Engage with 3rd party ABB M&G AVP Channel Partner network ensuring their compliance with ABB repair, safety and integrity procedures and policies.
  • Maintain and enhance customer satisfaction by providing excellent service at all stages of ABB M&G Service work.
  • Your background
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline, plus 5 years' experience
  • Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP a plus
  • A strong focus on safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines
  • A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies
  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach, and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
