Introduction

iRobot's User/Field Test team's mission is to de-risk the design of our products and provide directional guidance on the future economic success of the product. Through extensive exploratory testing in-homes, the team gathers the voice of the customer and validates technical improvements and design choices during the development process. Throughout the testing, the team analyzes the results and curate's critical product performance insights that are shared with the technical teams, the product teams and the executive team.

iRobot's User Test team is expanding and looking for an exceptional manager to join our team; the ideal candidate has 3 years of managerial experience and is inspired to further develop their hands on management skills in a growing robotics field.

The Field Test manager will be responsible for hiring new team members, managing a diverse team of project managers and user test specialists, improving business processes and managing yearly budget that includes headcount, incentives, shipping, and a sizable contract with an outside testing partner.

Ideal person will have a strong program execution background as well as a technical understanding to be able to find and communicate actionable insights to the business.

What You Will Do:

  • Recruit and manage a remote team of user test professionals. Provide coaching/mentorship on strategic and tactical elements of their roles
  • Build and maintain relationship with external suppliers, ensuring high level of service is provided.
  • Maintain internal and external customer focus and urgency as the team assists various program teams delivering outstanding products and experiences to our customers.
  • Manage the planning and execution of requested tests with a wide range of customers and communicate insights to the business
  • Drive best practices and champion/support continual improvement activities within the group and the larger organization
  • Establishes and assures adherence to budgets and schedules, work plans and performance requirements
  • To Be Successful You Will Have:

  • A strong desire and compassion to manage a diverse team; and as a liaison, the ability to work cross-functionally between the customers and the technical product teams.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Field Testing, Beta Testing, Consumer Insights and/or other related fields with at least 4 years in high-tech electro-mechanical product field, 3 years of management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with exceptional problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated strong program management skills and history of delivering high quality work under tight timelines, reacting quickly under pressure when priorities change
  • Empathetic manager able to lead a diverse team of employees.
  • Adept at summarizing and presenting complex test data and test status in an informative and easily understood manner
  • Proven track record of building consensus, drive effective decisions, and manage conflict around those decisions
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or MBA
