Hybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be on-site an average of three (3) days each week.

The Role

The Lead Device Level Analytics (DLA) Controls Engineer is responsible for the implementation across GMNA Vehicle Manufacturing plants (including but not limited to assembly, RESS, EDU, GPS etc.) to solve complex Manufacturing business problems using analytical tools & techniques while coordinating with cross functional teams from Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing operations & IT. This role supports core DLA and IT development teams by implementing various modules in DLA, coordinate with plant ME teams, plan & guide implementation resources, update leadership and provide feedback to DLA business & development team.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Collaborate with DLA core team, business, Manufacturing Operations counterparts, IT, Automation and analytics community to capture, prioritize, plan and lead implementation of DLA at Mfg site and drive measurable results.

  • Lead implementation planning, resource allocation, budgeting and DLA module deployments in NA Mfg facilities as per priority set by DLA steering committee & core team

  • Understand and be proficient in use of DLA tools, such as InDepth, seek business value and support manufacturing plant teams for implementation and use

  • Lead, plan and coordinate with manufacturing plant leadership to determine implementation plan, training needs, on-site support and user feedback for improvements

  • Understand latest industry trends and explore possibilities of using advance analytics tools

  • Support leadership in driving strategic decisions for development and implementation in GM plants

  • Understand observations from manufacturing plants and propose improvement solutions, provide feedback to development team

  • Plan and support training and guidance to plant teams on DLA reporting and tools.

  • Regular implementation plan tracking and leadership updates

  • Regular coordination meetings with manufacturing plant users to understand effectiveness of implementation and feedback for enhancements

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in controls engineering

  • Strong analytical capabilities & proven hands on experience for on-site project execution activities

  • Excellent collaboration, project management, communication and reporting skills

  • Understanding on concept of data analytics tools, techniques and its use in manufacturing systems

  • Good understanding and hands-on experience with GM Automation standards, Plant Floor Systems, IECN & PFCN Network principles along with IT interface planning

  • Experience in use of various business intelligence and analytical tools such as Tableau, Power BI

  • Ability to identify useful information in data sets and suggest conclusions that support decision making for improvements in manufacturing processes

  • Communication skills with the ability to understand complex decision models based on data analysis towards manufacturing data and explain to a wider audience.

  • Multiple ME assignments with successful individual achievements or strong team-based achievements

  • Demonstrated understanding of Manufacturing Plant floor work, processes, Industrial engineering

  • Demonstrated understanding of Centralized ME type work activity

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering process studies, Industrial engineering, Plant floors systems knowledge will be added advantage

  • Hands on experience in site implementation, Automation project execution
