Description

In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve. You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process, specifically with welding, robotics and metal forming. You will be required to use your independent discernment. Your responsibility may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and leading experiments to produce timely and accurate analyses used to drive design, development, testing, and qualify manufacturing processes. Planning validation exercises to demonstrate initial feasibility as well as manufacturing capability. Analyzing results of validation exercises and provide technical recommendations.
  • Reviewing progress of development activities and serve as point of escalation for critical process related issues.
  • Acts as lead engineer to drive process development and capability assessment activities, maintain part design documentation to ensure alignment with process capability.
  • Lead process development and/or data gathering activities. Set clear goals for results and provide timely reviews of performance throughout program.
  • Review supplier fixture design, process flow, equipment selection, DFM, and DOE proposals. Identify shortfalls and corrective actions to ensure design compliance.
  • Work with production teams to map out process development exercises, secure resources, and commit to schedules in line with program goals
  • Assess readiness to support build events and production ramp. Identify potential execution issues and provide recommendations to mitigate risk.
  • Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area and propose Continuous Improvement solutions
  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
  • Practice cross-functional communication with partners outside the work group

  • Provide direction to small group of technical employees
  • Monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
  • Additional Description

    Requirements:

  • 6+ years of engineering experience in mechanical manufacturing or relevant
  • Experience with Mechanical Fabricated parts, jigs, fixtures, tooling, machine shop, (CNC, Mills, Lathes)
  • Demonstrate hands-on mechanical ability
  • Strong experience in PFMEA and failure analysis
  • Strong cross functional partnership experience with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Preferred:

  • Experience in Robotics
  • Solid understanding of DOE, GD&T, SPC
  • Prior welding experience
  • Metal Forming in a Manufacturing environment
