The Customer Care and Aftersales organization is pleased to announce the creation of a new team focused on reimagining and modernizing our supply chain and warehousing fulfillment strategy to support evolving business requirements as well as future e-fulfillment growth.
The focus of the effort will be on performing competitive analysis to identify and implement global lean supply chain and fulfillment solutions to solve current gaps in the warehousing efficiency and space and executing actions to enable best in class end-to-end supply chain capabilities.
Reimaging fulfillment is a cultural shift within GM-CCA that empowers and inspires the team to take action and embrace the demeanor that, "Everything can be made better."
You will help support and implement strategy development in turning fulfillment into a competitive differentiator for GM and advancing the work on future fulfillment model.
The Industrial engineering position will be a detail-oriented individual that will assist in the support of strategic, innovative technologies designed to increase speed, improve accuracy and reduce costs. The responsibilities will include analyzing operations and equipment, designing workflows and reducing inefficiency. The position will support and design efficient systems that integrate workers, information, robotics and materials. The position will be required to use the GM Global Material Optimization Systems (GMOS) to institute and analyze waste elimination opportunities. All Material IE's will be training plant teams in the use and maintenance of GMOS.
Provide input, support and jointly develop long term capacity / operational business plan. Work with local business units to insure that resources are available to execute to the plan. Drive the implementation of common global processes, policies. Responsible to foster the culture of continuous improvement and best practice sharing and implementation.
Responsibilities:
Develop the most efficient ways to utilize people, machines, materials and information
Assist operations to increase productivity.
Optimize methods of business organization.
Perform mathematical calculations to determine operational processes.
Design methods to ensure product quality.
Resolve operational problems.
Study and rearrange material flow, and operations sequence.
Evaluate effects of operational design changes.
Standardize common floor processes
Determine all operational methods according to required work standards and analyze all information to resolve specific issues such as optimal utilization of personnel and materials.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and recommend changes to layout and maintain control on all labor and material costs.
Ensure optimal utilization of all personnel and materials and provide support to all SPQRC processes and ensure achievement of all safety and cost objectives.
Train Warehouse staff for standardization on newly implemented processes. This can include developing instructions and manuals for employees.
aggregate and summarize information from a variety of sources and communicate findings as appropriate.
Designs, redesigns, or enhances work areas and layouts so that awkward or uncomfortable positions, repetitive motions, and inefficient operations are reduced or eliminated.
Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions.
Develops and maintains management information, planning, and control systems.
Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree Industrial preferred
Warehouse / Distribution / Manufacturing experience preferred
Ability to work autonomously
Strong decision making skills
Good Communication skills / Ability to work collaboratively
Strong Problem Solving skills
Project Management skills
Ability to work any shift as the business dictates
Must be willing to travel 40-50% Domestically/ Internationally to our Warren and PC Michigan sites and our PDC locations across the US
