We are looking for you to take on the role of Materials Business Manager at Oshawa Assembly for our 3rd Shift.
This individual will work with all levels of a cross functional team to drive continuous improvements (CI), support steady state improvements, and drive established best practices. You will be responsible for supporting manufacturing/warehouse operations, supply chain systems and processes, and material management. As well as, lead overall plant Lean Material Strategies (LMS) including material flow, material routings, storage space requirements, mobile equipment, layout development, container development, storage areas, kitting, small lot strategy, sequence planning, PFEP, etc.
Responsibilities:
Executes deliverables in support of the supply chain organization's business objectives
Guides on one of the key areas within the Global Supply Chain to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives
Position communicates to all levels of the organization, within the function as well as other functions and suppliers
Responsible for supporting relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers
Ability to understand and assess complex supply chain issues and lead teams in a cross functional environment to successfully resolve issues minimizing impacts to vehicle production
Assess supplier schedules and impact on vehicle assembly production
Collaborate cross functionally to develop creative solutions
Ability to summarize critical issues with resolutions and communicate to leadership
Handle very complex capacity constraint issues to resolution with goal to eliminate potential plant disruptions and reduce premium transportation
Analyze metrics supporting supplier critical issues or sufficiency plan resolution
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Material, Packaging, Industrial) or Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience
Deep understanding of supply chain processes and systems – PFEP ( Plan For Every Part), Material Global Optimization (MGO), PPS, Electronic Part System (EPS), SAP
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Process (CIP)
Knowledge of work measurement/work standards, ergonomic principles, material optimization, and facility layout
Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to implement innovative strategies
Prior experience in manufacturing domain with varied supply chain office and floor assignments
Ability to be flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution
Ability to travel to plant locations when required for onsite support of launch and build-out
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)
Experience within unionized environment
