The Role
GM Motorsports Performance Engineering is expanding its motorsports engineering group. GM Motorsports races in NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA and is currently pursuing an entry into Formula 1. We are seeking a Carbon Fiber CAD Design Engineer to work with the racing programs during all stages of life from part design to layup schedule and material choices. With your experience level, you can run FEA on parts designed and have the capability to convert surfaces into parts. Position is open to international hiring.
What You'll Do
Use your Catia experience and analytical thinking skills to create solids, surfaces, complex assemblies, and drawings
Collaborate with various members of the race program teams using a strong client-oriented focus
Partner with others to learn from and share knowledge in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree Engineering
5+ number of years of automotive, motorsports or aerospace industry designing carbon fiber parts
CATIA or 3DX work industry experience
Carbon fiber mold and part design
Carbon fiber material knowledge
Carbon fiber layup knowledge
Solid modeling
Surface modeling
Various Cad systems
Ability to handle multiple programs efficiently
Excellent written and verbal skills
Basic vehicle knowledge
Knowledge of vehicle dynamics
Knowledge of aerodynamics
