The GMIT Manufacturing Operations Specialist Senior team member has on-site responsibility for planning, directing, and performing activities pertaining to information technology and business unit objectives in a GM Manufacturing facility. More specifically, this role will perform tasks requiring on-site support for basic, intermediate and advanced level requests for applications, IT devices, clients, network and infrastructure support per the responsibilities listed. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Expected to provide technical leadership to the IT Site team members as needed and back-up the site IT manager.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate and perform work under general direction from the site IT manager, in-line with GMIT policies and procedures. - Monitors service delivery and health of the environment. - Prepares, analyzes, summarizes and presents data in formats appropriate for the decision process (oral, written reports, presentations). - Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors.
- Site project manager for infrastructure deployments / upgrades
- Site technical lead for plant application deployments / upgrades
- Interface with the plant business personnel, outside vendors, deployment teams, as well as the Application Operations, and IT Innovation teams
- Complete problem management tasks as required
- Complete complex and advanced site IT tasks and requests
- Provide IT leadership to the IT Site team
- SME for all IT related services and focal point to the business partners including IT Innovation, Deployment and Operations
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Training, education and/or experience in Computer Operations. Other experience in computer hosting, Data center operations, etc.
Additional DescriptionBachelor's degree in Computer Systems Engineering or equivalent in IT experience.

- Experienced with a variety of IT concepts, practices, and procedures - Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals - Excellent level of analytical ability, strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers - Collaboration with cross-functional teams - Operates under IT guidelines and direction to maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair end-user equipment (PCs, laptops, printers, scanners, tablets), computer peripherals, and network connectivity - Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results - Knowledge of manufacturing applications and general business function supported at plant - Ability to understand an application's design in the plant (how hosted, what database/OS) for all vital and critical applications at the site - Experience in the manufacturing process flow to assess and quantify impact of application and/or network outages - - Experience and practical knowledge of networking systems including WAN, LAN, firewalls, routers, switches, servers, APs and IT end devices. -Basic Understanding of storage systems -Base Understanding of VMWare concepts - Experienced in Incident Management Processes with strong incident management & trouble shooting skills - Experienced in IT Security implementation - Expertise in testing/validating and deploying OS updates and patches - Knowledge of database management systems -Possess high level of independent thinking and judgment
