Calgary facility is a small panel shop that
Yaskawa is currently seeking a Panel Shop Manager for our Calgary panel shop.
The Panel Shop Manager will lead the Assemblers, Testers and Fabricators in
the production and testing of all standard and engineered to order production
prior to shipment. Additionally this role will work closely with the
development group in the qualification testing phase for new product designs
in achieving sales growth and the success of the corporate medium voltage
drives business. Participate in all phases of the qualification process
including design reviews. This position will be responsible for assisting with
the in the execution of production testing on all standard and engineered-to-
order product prior to shipment following standard test and safety procedures
to insure on time delivery of product. More specifically this position will:
Provide work assignment, training, and leadership support for shop
personnel.
Assist the development group in the qualification testing phase for new
product designs in achieving sales growth and the success of the corporate
medium voltage drives business. Participate in all phases of the
qualification process including design reviews.
Test, repair and maintain electrical equipment including control circuits,
transformers, motors, protective relays, variable speed drives
Perform testing and commissioning procedures for electrical panels
Install and maintain electrical control systems and industrial automation
systems
Performing basic electrical calculations for wire sizing, grounding.
Planning, tracking and improving production metrics including but not
limited to build hours, manpower plans, job costs, etc.
Receive drawings, detail drawings, arrange drawings for packages to issue
to teams
Evaluate each team member periodically and discuss individually for self-
improvements
Provide manufacturability updates to drawings.
Make sure teams follow National Electrical Codes, Canada Codes, and
customer specifications per projects
Manage shop inventory and provide POs to purchasing to ensure availability
of parts stock to meet production build plans.
Assisting in technical support and problem solving for shop assembly in
wiring and equipment installations and in production testing.
The ideal candidate will have an AAS or AS in Electrical Engineering or
related discipline. 0-3 years of experience with Power Control/Conversion
test equipment and/or electrical assembly. A combination of additional
experience and military experience may be considered in lieu of the
degree. Knowledge of electrical panels and VFDs are desired. More
specifically, the successful Panel Shop Foreman candidate will possess:
Proficiency with the use of shop tools and electrical test equipment.
Ability to plan, organize, set priorities, and resolve issues
expeditiously to meet the customer demand rate.
Ability to train and supervise shop personnel
Exceptional communication, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and comprehend schematics, wiring, and one line diagrams.
Computer skills with a fundamental understanding of Microsoft suite of
programs.
