Description

As a Plant Launch Operations Manager, you will be responsible to manage salaried group leaders in the implementation and execution of the established business process for an area in the production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation.

Roles

  • Direct report to the Plant Leadership indirectly to GMNA Launch Advisor
  • Shares responsibility for the program launch with the Manufacturing Engineering Center counterpart

  • Responsible for all Plant Readiness activities, operation readiness, and operator training.

  • Lead the Plant Launch Team for all Manufacturing Builds Events
  • Responsibilities

  • Member of the Product Execution Team (Castings, Components, Engines and Transmissions Center only)
  • Oversee the execution of all functions on the Launch Wall Process
  • Create the Launch Team Hiring Plan
  • Develop and execute the Launch Team training plan
  • Develop timing and execute the Operations Wall template
  • Develop and execute Manufacturing Build Plan and Ramp-up Plan
  • Track and resolve ergonomic and safety issues
  • Ensure execution of the quality plan
  • Establish a communication plan with Plant Leadership, Union and Management Teams as required
  • Facilitates resolution of major plant issues across functional groups, ensuring that the problem solving process is being utilized (PRTS), root causes established, owners assigned and containment is in place
  • Develop an agreed-to single issues lists for the progam(s)
  • Establish communication devices and launch action center facilities for the Launch Team
  • Ensures that the total plant simulation has been performed and throughput issues are identified and driven to resolution
  • Implements lessons learned from previous programs and captures lessons learned during the program execution
  • Manages the pre-production budget requirements, resources, travel, planning and material
  • Deliver a flawless launch that meets quality, delivery and cost objectives

    Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Manufacturing supervisory experience
  • Ability to manage Manufacturing Operations and work with cross-functional teams
  • High level of analytical ability
  • Ability to lead teams towards resolution of highly unusual and complex quality and build issues
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience
  • Promotional opportunity for 7th level employees; lateral opportunity for existing 8th level employees.
