The Role

Our diverse team of manufacturing engineers play a crucial role in transforming our facilities through implementing the adoption of ground-breaking technologies. From raw sheet metal to final assembly, this team is reinventing the tools and processes that will enable GM to deliver on our promise to create an all-electric future.

The PPO Global Operations Planner position functions independently under the general guidance of their immediate supervisor and members of the PPO leadership team. It involves a considerable amount of strategic thinking and initiative in supporting all PPO Business Units both Regionally and Globally in multiple areas of concentration. Assignments are of a complex nature involving a significant degree of cooperative work with other functional areas of the business.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams and other functional leaders to execute business plans and initiatives that support enterprise objectives.

  • Develop, maintain and update Pre-Production Operations (GPS and Vehicle) Level 1 and Global Pre-Production Operations (PPO) Level 0.5 Business Plans and work with Staff to develop detailed plans to achieve.

  • Frequently communicate priorities and business updates including responsibility for PPO's business objectives/scorecard.

  • Manage headcount (Hourly and Salary) and budget for Pre-Production Operations (GPS and Vehicle).

  • Lead Department Business Managers/Planners in Manpower and Capacity planning.

  • Work close with HR/LR to balance hiring and reduction to forecast and budget.

  • Lead Departments in achieving monthly budget targets and activities – Overtime (Hourly and Salary), forecasting, indirect spending, etc.

  • Develop future and current strategic manpower plans by Department – Including Hourly and Salary; maintain high levels of fidelity and confidentiality.

  • Lead, coordinate, facilitate frequent Global PPO Staff and other collaboration meetings with all global regions (ex: Korea, China, Brazil) including face-to-face (virtual) meetings.

  • Serve as point of contact and for Tours; Coordinate and lead – Including all levels of the entire organization

  • Participate as a strategic partner in a variety of onsite meetings involving: HR/LR (Manpower), Finance, IE, GMS, Workplace of Choice, diversification planning strategies, Safety, Capacity Planning, Program Management, GVDP, etc.

  • Serve as point of contact for several onsite policies and/or procedures (ex: badge access, high voltage certification level 1, confidentiality agreements, camera passes, media activities, etc.).

  • Coordinates and contributes to the development of detailed requirements, actions and documentation to define a plan

  • Analyzes complex data and evaluates plans relative to business needs and objectives and identifies solutions to problems

  • Monitors performance to plans and ensures timely communication to management

  • Facilitate weekly meetings with UAW partners

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of industry, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering and/or Engineering experience

  • Experience in Manufacturing Operations, manpower planning (and forecasting) and GVDP

  • Experience with and comfort working with all levels of the entire organization (ex: Senior Management, Executives); high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others at all levels of the entire organization

  • Meeting coordination, facilitation, ability to capture key points and follow-up timely

  • High level of proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, internet, SharePoint

  • High level of proficiency of verbal and written communication skills

  • Strategic agility and ability to manage and coordinate multiple ongoing, detailed assignments concurrently with minimal supervision

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related areas
