In this role, you will be heading a team in the Electrification Distribution Solutions in Mebane, North Carolina, driving efficient and cost-effective production results to meet requirements, specifications and targets by coordinating and plant equipment, personnel and production processes. The Production Manager will have operational responsibility for the ELDS Medium Voltage Switchgear production line, driving efficient and cost-effective production results to meet requirements, specifications, and targets by coordinating and plant equipment, personnel, and production processes. In this role, you will aid in the transformation of parts and raw materials into ABB products in a timely and cost-effective manner, developing programs, projects, goals, and metrics to help the organization achieve the highest level of operational performance.

Operations Manager

Your responsibilities

Preparing annual production budgets, overseeing progress, and identifying actions to mitigate risk, remaining within budget and resource constraints

Identifying deficiencies and proposing improvements and implementing actions to improve production performance, integrating lean manufacturing methodology into production

Implementing ABB's process improvement methodology training and methods

Meeting production schedules and managing deliveries of multiple orders on time in an efficient and productive manner

Overseeing manufacturing subcontracts and managing subcontractors with other functions, including Procurement & Logistics

Working with HR (Human Resource) Management to ensure that the production organization is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed

Guiding, motivating and developing less experienced team members to reach their potential

Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental directives, implementing regulations, and monitoring and reporting progress and results

Your background

A Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business or related field or 8 years of equivalent work experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing as production management/ leadership position

Demonstrated experience working on a production line

Demonstrated management of key performance indicators and driving daily results

Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a collaborative, solution focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete reports and logs

Preferred Master's Degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent work experience

Six Sigma Green Belt or a proven track record in leading continuous improvements projects

Project management skills to lead small Kaizen projects

In depth knowledge of SAP

Prior experience with electrical distribution equipment

Prior experience manufacturing an engineered to order product

May be required to travel up to 25%

Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
