Job Description

The Program Manager, University Relations and Talent Outreach will develop and foster strategic relationships with universities and professional organizations to hire top students, and will design and build a University Relations Program that is dedicated to hiring the best workforce for the future for AeroVironment. Responsibilities include consulting with hiring teams to build strategic hiring plans, defining and sourcing top talent from Universities and Professional Organizations, executing campus recruiting events, screening and presenting high-potential candidates to hiring teams, coordinating campus interviews, presenting offers of employment and ensuring a seamless onboarding and integration of talent for interns and recent university graduates.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert to Leadership on matters related to university relations/recruiting programs for both the intern and entry- level full-time hires.
  • Develop and execute key sourcing strategies to attract talent; organize, plan and attend campus recruiting activities.
  • Work closely with hiring teams to understand business needs and relevant program application.
  • Identify target schools and facilitate the building of relationships with key stakeholders to ensure access to top student talent.
  • Manage professional organization sponsorships and attend related events for recruiting top engineering talent.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for interns and recent college graduates including planning special events, mid-program check-ins, presentation days and other similar functions to encourage consistent communication and increase employee engagement
  • Communicate and educate intern and recent graduate managers to guide them through effective intern project creation, onboarding and assimilation, goal setting and performance and development.
  • Influence business leaders to adopt a strategic, enterprise approach to attracting, retaining and developing early talent.
  • Research pipeline programs at other companies to ensure we're competitive and positioned as an employer of choice.
  • Evaluate the ongoing efficiency and cost-effectiveness of campus recruiting initiatives.
  • Regularly report on program statistics, campus activity and hires to determine the ROI.
  • Required Qualifications and Background :

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 - 8 years of experience in recruiting, human resources, organizational effectiveness or related field.
  • 5 or more years of university recruiting in a corporate setting.
  • Proven ability to maintain excellent customer service with university contacts, hiring managers and candidates while maintaining strong partnerships with Business Leaders
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Energetic public speaker and comfortable presenting and facilitating in front of large groups.
  • Comprehensive understanding of OFCCP compliance
  • Ability to travel up to 50% during peak recruiting seasons (September – November; January – February) with occasional travel (up to 25%) throughout the year
  • Engineering or high-tech industry experience a plus.
  • The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate:

  • Experience building internal and external relationships, managing stakeholder and candidate expectations throughout the recruitment life- cycle to establish compliance, consistency, and quality.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload, plan and organize events with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build long term, value-added relationships with prospects, including managing candidate communities, providing meaningful experiences during the identification and attraction processes, and, maintaining relationships with candidates not selected.
  • Ability to assess business needs and talent markets while developing and executing recruitment strategies, programs and tools that support of business objectives.
  • Ability to manage competing demands, adapt to changing business requirements and proactively seek constructive feedback.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to function independently in a high-volume fast-paced environment and with a sense of urgency and determination to persist even when faced with challenges.
  • Program or process improvement experience; able to assess, diagnose and design creative and innovative solutions.
  • The salary range for this role is:

    $93,184 - $139,776

    AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
