A key role in assisting the sales team, the Proposal Specialist prepares sales proposals for Analytical Sales, Process Automation Measurement & Analytics (PAMA). Proposals consist of the preparation of proposals to develop domestic and/or international business and also include making recommendations to ensure that quotation requests and orders received are at acceptable profit levels. You will be responsible for a variety of complex sales administration activities and for implementing measures to promote continual sales growth. Consult with customers and Channel Partners to understand their business needs and apply ABB business requirements to promote and strengthen partnerships. Develop and implement sales strategies designed to stress value added activities while achieving maximum profit margin and ensuring optimum levels of customer satisfaction. Under general guidance of supervisor or more experienced personnel, perform various proposal and cost estimating duties requiring the exercise of judgment and application of established practices. Pursue initiatives to improve effectiveness of the group and increase customer satisfaction. Provide the internal and external expertise and counsel relating to ABB products and processes to drive sales potential. Participate in marketing programs to market ABB products and services and provide customers and Channel Partners with expertise relative to various solutions.

Your responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with customer and Channel Partner representatives responsible for making purchasing decisions
  • Interact with relevant parties to negotiate sales, resolve disputes and quality related issues
  • Review and analyze customer specifications, coordinate input from other departments to develop proposal responses to customer requirements
  • Simultaneously process information on multiple and varied projects/initiatives and respond effectively to changes in priorities
  • Develop price and cost estimates for new proposals and revisions
  • Utilize engineering data, drawings, customer specifications and related information to prepare price and cost estimates, requests for quotations for purchase of components, evaluate supplier quotations and summarize total price and cost estimates
  • Write complete proposal documents and revise proposal documents, as required
  • Compile data for reporting proposal scope, terms, cost and profitability, to management
  • Attend meetings to exchange information and analyze proposal requirements
  • Participate in investigation, definition, and documentation of processes and business alignment
  • Establish and validate procedures for existing and future business needs
  • Duties may require domestic or international travel
  • Your background
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or 2 years of experience
  • Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
