Description

GM is heavily invested in Early Career and New College Hires (NCH) . The QA Team that you will have responsibility for currently consists of 8 members whom all graduated during the past 1 to 2 years and are located in Ireland and the US. There are plans to grow this team, making Hiring a key component of this role. The key success factor of the Software Testing/QA Manager is to train and upskill these NCHs in the art of Quality Assurance and Testing with the primary objective to Automate all possible Test Cases. FY23 will see much effort invested in re-platforming applications as we migrate off our on-prem Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) platform to Microsoft's Azure. There will be a large measure of flexibility required in this role to accommodate personnel that operate in Mountain Time, Central Time, Eastern Time and GMT.

About you and about the role:

You are a QA/Testing SME with many years of hands-on experience that resulted in a deep understanding of best practices and tool-sets with a track record of leading change and setting and pursuing standards. You have personally automated large quantities of Test Cases and have guided and supported others to achieve the same goal. You know the difference between Management and Leadership.

The ideal candidate should be able to:

  • Develop the skillset of Early Career team members to senior Software Testing Engineering proficiency.
  • Develop and drive the automation of Testing.
  • Improve and maintain the team's testing process.
  • Build and maintain performance testing for custom and COTS applications.
  • Developing a culture of life-long-learning and personal growth premised on curiosity, innovation and creativity.
  • Highly inclusive ‘people-person' management style.
  • Demonstrate Critical Thinking and possess the Managerial courage to take calculated risks and define creative solutions for problems that arise.
  • Taking strategic ambiguities and turning them into meaningful plans that the teams can execute to.
  • Injecting new technologies, looking ahead, and building future-proof solutions.
  • Working across multi-functional teams, be comfortable working in a matrixed organization and aligning diverse partners.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in software testing tools (Manual, Automation and Performance testing)
  • 7-10 years experience in SDLC
  • Experience with communicating and presenting to Senior Executives
  • Demonstrated portfolio and resource planning and delivering within scope and budget
  • ​Experienced in building a culture of automation in testing practices with end-to-end application testing ownership
  • Facilitated high level of team engagement across diverse functional areas
  • People Leader & Project Management skills and experience.
  • Experience in recruiting and hiring top talent
  • Proficient in Microsoft's Azure DevOps (previously TFS).
