Job Description

Lead the implementation of global and local quality requirements for the plant. Facilitate and maintain compliance to external and internal audit requirements including GMS BIQ Calibration. Assist the plant with technical problem solving using Red X and data analytics. The QA Engineer will have knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes, and management systems as they relate to production operations; as well as a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate implementation of quality procedures/ systems.
  • Represent the plant on the GM North American Quality Requirements conference calls.
  • Communicate emerging issues with respect to changing Global Quality Requirements (GQRs) and upcoming external audits. Promote preparing for the audits.
  • Facilitate GMS BIQ basketweave process (includes review audit compliance, corrective action reports, upcoming changes & events, and SME training)
  • Knowledge of all ISO and Government Regulatory requirments
  • Administer/ support systems used for the plant's BIQ Quality Manual, GMS Document Control, Workplace Safety System Document Control, other plantwide sharepoint and shared drive databases, Flexnet and ILM.
  • Assist Flexnet users (GSC, production, engineering and quality) with levels of access, logon issues, and upgrade implementations.
  • Attend weekly Quality Requirements call
  • Support the plant's quality improvement and scrap reduction initiatives with Red X (using small sample sizes) and data analytics (using large data sets and checking for patterns).
  • Assist quality engineers with production coverage. Attend SOS and EOS carryover meetings to keep up to date with the daily issues. Assist with containments, quality gates, quality alerts & PTRs.
  • Assist GMS Core Team Members with document control and archiving.
  • Upload updates in GMS document control database for Plantwide Documents (work instructions and forms) and Salary Standardized Work (STSs and TISs).
  • As a WSS champion, provide monthly and annual updates on WSS Document Control.
  • Update the plant's Opex performance by creating & uploading charters and supporting data.
  • Coordinate ILM for the plant (update Record Identification Matrix with Legal Holds, plan annual ILM event, represent plant on GM ILM conference calls).
  • Review and sign off on gage equipment non-conformance reports (GNCs) for gage control.

    Additional Description

    Basic Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a engineering, manufacturing, quality operations or equivalent experience
  • Ability to solve difficult and complex problems by identifying the root cause and implementing corrective actions
  • Willingness to ask questions, take initiative and be resourceful.
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, self-directed.
  • Experience/Knowledge of GMS, GM ISO and BIQ audit process, principles and practices
  • Experience with structured problem solving such as Red X, DMAIC, Opex,
  • Experience with data analysis programs such as Minitab, QDAS QSTAT, QDAP.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and OT as needed.
